When I needed orthotics years back, the money invested was beyond worth it. We need our feet and every organ and eyelash!! 🤣🤣 Take the best route, you won’t regret it.

I have a heel spur in my Achilles tendon which was causing me great pain a couple of years ago. The doctor said to wear shoes that have a higher heel than toe. I got some Skechers that fit the bill, and no pain since! Hope your problem is as easy to fix!

I'm so glad it's fixed for you, Debbie! Did they have to do an x-ray to see the spur?

I have a lot of hip issues, especially if I left heavy during squats. I do use CBD oil at night and that does help but I'm guessing mine might be arthritis. Hope you find the cause of yours and if it's causing your foot pain..

Take a great care my friend ! I have 100 miles to go lol

I would bet the foot issue is causing the hip problem, not the other way around. If orthotics didn't help, maybe aa bone spur is continuing to cut the foot muscles and tendons which means the foot problem won't go away on its own. Good luck - I had bone spur surgery but the problem is 90% better now.

PS I went to podiatrist - he was able to x ray and show me the problem in pictures and knew the problem was not going disappear without surgery.

I had bad hip flexor pain when I started running this year. Fast paced walking aggravated it as well. I started doing stretches, stuck to walking, and it got better in a few weeks. I then stopped stretching and really need to get back into it.

Whatever course you take, do NOT let a doctor shoot cortisone in your feet. It thins out the padding till you're left with just skin & bone. I stand by my remedy of acupuncture for the plantar fasciitis. I know you shot that idea down before, but please consider it in lieu of gobbling pain pills (which affect the entire body instead of just the feet).

abbadabba, plantar fasciitis usually stems from some weakness up the chain, it doesn't cause issues, it's kind of like referred pain. I've gone to a podiatrist and PT. I need to go back to the PT I think, I know for sure it won't go away on its own, but I need it to go away so I can run 😆😑 In glad the dr was able to help you!

TheUnhealthyDad, I'm glad you started running but sad for the hip flexor! I was reading it could be caused by not bringing the foot of the offending leg all the way forward while running. Have you had your gait looked at? It might help! I'm glad the stretches help 🙂

Thanks, JB! I wouldn't get a cortisone shot, it's just for pain management not actually fixing the problem. I don't take pain medication for it either, so I'm with you there! Ya know, the new PT I'm talking to was talking about dry needling (which is maybe similar to acupuncture?) So this definitely requires exploring!

Acupuncture and dry needling are similar in that they both use thin needles, but where they are stuck is different. Dry needling is also not regulated, and acupuncture is. A study was done and found that dry needling was no more effective than stretching: https://journals.humankinetics.com/view/journals/jsr/26/6/article-p507.xml

Have a great week you too Asarver!!! I'm glad you're feeling better! and I'm sorry about the pain. The dry needling sounds terrifying though, but I have a friend that tried it and got great results.

Interesting, JB, I'll look into that! There are quite a few studies that show dry needling reduces pain and plantar fascia scarring/ thickness, especial when combined with stretching and PT. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35094649/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5038993/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33760098/

Thanks, nosequepongo! I know a few people who have had it done for calf issues, I've never had it done 😬 it seems interesting reading on it though
