davidsprincess's Journal, 09 Jun 22

I have been trying to walk every evening and lift in the mornings. So today I did legs and tonight I went for a walk. My girls have been going with me a lot of the time but one went to a friend's house and the other has her friend over here. And so I went alone. (hubby at the gym) I saw a fat little groundhog- A different one. I caught a lightning bug (or some may call it a firefly). I heard the community band playing in the park- which I forgot happens on Thursday evenings. And I got called a bitch by a 9-10 year old on his bike going by me. I could tell he was just giving it a try because he kinda mumbled it. Part of me wished I would have been like Carrie White (Stephen King) when the kid says "Creepy Carrie, Creepy Carrie"- and thrown him to the ground. Another part of me thought of the movie Friday where Lil Chris knocks over the trash cans and they finally catch him on his bike and beat his ass. But mostly I was amused... because I feel like it is one of those stupid things you do as a kid that I bet he will remember for the rest of his life. 🚴‍♂️🔥🚶‍♀️

Slow meta - I haven't seen you in awhile. Hope you are well. He definitely was talking to me. He was about 12 to 15 feet away from me trying to get his feet on his pedals to start riding as I was walking toward him. And so when he got going, that is what he said to me. Except he didn't time it very well, and he wasn't going very fast yet. And I could have easily turned around and grabbed him. It would have been hilarious if I gave chase. I bet he would have thought twice about doing it again. 😆

Fatman - you're right! Nikina- I watched it about six months ago after watching it constantly in my 20's. It did not disappoint. 😆 some of my 80's movies that I'm trying to get my kids to watch are not nearly as riveting and life changing as I recalled- but Friday...maybe because it came out later - just as funny as ever. So many funny parts going through my head "said she looked like Janet Jackson. Got out the car lookin more like Freddy Jackson " 🤣😂

Thanks everyone else. I can't see on my phone to respond. My attention span is too short to remember everyone and reply. Diana - I was a toddler when Carrie came out and early 20's for Friday. Love them both.

That sounds like an eventful walk. I live in Illinois too, so I’m a lightening bug lover too.

Nothing much worse than a 9-10 year old boy except a 11-12 year old one. They become progressively worse until some of them become humanized. Some never do. LOL.

One of my favorite memories is when my mom would let us stay out after dark and we would catch lightning bugs. We'd put them in a jar, set them on our night stand and watch them 'til we fell asleep. Magical...

Hey DP! Glad to hear your cyclist encounter didn’t progress like mine (with an adult). I’ve been trying to get my walking on a regular schedule. 90s temperature influences schedule. No 100s yet.

Lightning bugs are magical. Reminds me of my childhood. Weird about the kid calling you a “b”. Glad you blew it off! Not worth the trouble. But, you are better than me, I don’t know honestly if I could have not said anything. 🤷🏼‍♀️ My family and I took a walk last night. I like both walking w them and walking by myself. The by myself walks clear my mind, the family walks makes me feel included!

It might have been the same brat I encountered years ago when I was only mildly overweight. I wish I could have punched him right in the face! I also wish I could forget about him?

Tomlong what is your encounter? Shirfleur, I find the times we have caught them in a jar, they refuse to blink. 🤷🏻‍♀️ wifey, idk where it is but if I have time to look for it, I will.

If he does it again, scare him by start chasing him and tell him I'm going to give you a good butt whooping. I bet he'd peddle fast

I once was walking down the road with my chihuahua and when a large dog behind a fence started acting vicious and a little boy next to the dog peeked over the fence and said “my dog could beat you up.” It wasn’t what he said but the creepy bullying tone that he said it in that made me avoid walking that way for a while. Sorry another little creep was mean to you.
