Being super busy but just dropped by FS to log in my progress. Well, the party on the roof on sunday was a huge success...prepared some mozzarella balls, stuffed vine leaves, cherry tomatoes, toasted pine nuts on basil leaves, toasted apricot kernels, some assorted pickled veg and pitted olives with chili peppers as appetizers. For lunch had roast beef and roast capon with roasted vegs and mashed potato which i really cooked for the young generation but everyone wanted! For desert, i put out green and rose grapes, pomegranate and pink lady apples and shelled walnuts. The setting was bedouin style and i had some red and black curtain panels which i got from Bangladesh and used them as a canopy for shade. I served bottles of chilled Moscato D'Asti which at 5% alcohol went down very well. For the birthday boys (MY hubby(53) and my son(13)) my eldest daughter baked red velvet cake and a lemon drizzle cake and they were awesome with coffee. My sister in law got shop bought chocolate cake and it didn't taste half as good! nothing beats homemade(If it comes good!:)) I was very relaxed and played my favourite vinyl records whilst cooking and somehow all the family got into the mood to help with laying the table and getting organised. One thing i made a point to do was to greet the guests myself at the door...in a previous life I would still be showering when the doorbell rings! I was also happy cos MIL couldn't stop admiring my window boxes and was amazed at the improvements i made here and there. My brother (48) and his son(10) got their violins and treated us to a mini-concert since they are now rehearsing together and have also taken engagements to appear in public. It was perfect!Even the weather behaved well, a slight breeze, sunny and 24 deg C. It rained with thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday just to put you in the picture. I love these family gatherings and now that my house is more ship shape I want more people to come over...I'm already looking forward to christmas and thinking what i could serve and making lists. I'm still cleaning closets here and there and sometimes i just stand in the middle of the room and think what I could do to change around what i put on the surfaces or even move out stuff....opening closets after a good number of years, I am finding stuff I put away cos my son would break anything on the surfaces kicking his ball against the wall, inside, yeah, inside! So things are coming out and memories are coming back... and I'm appreciating the good stuff happening in my life right at this moment. Have a great day!
