I'm a weekly weigher type of guy; that's the only way I can avoid being addicted to the scale. Mondays are my designated weigh-in day. This is why I miss a lot of your wonderful results. I check in from time to time to try to encourage, but please excuse me if the algorithms keep me from seeing your post. Shifting gears--I had a wonderful workout this Friday. I tweaked my pull-up routine and it resulted in a new personal best in both weighted (40 lbx17r) and unweighted (36r). I also made a new personal best in my dead lift by one rep. I'm 7 lbs from my best high school bench press of 210 lbs. It's hard to believe that I'm exceeding HS goals at 61 years of age.

Wow! That is amazing AEG1! To beat the levels of the teenage you is just great! I wish I had learned to love exercise at a much younger age, but if I can keep fit and healthy for the remainder I think that is such a gift and a blessing. Bravo on setting some new PRs for yourself!

N70, I don't like exercise; I like the results. :) Sadly, I think my addiction will lead to issues down the rode. Thanks for the kind words.

I'm with you, man.... gotta watch it with the weight as we get older. If you incorporate just one or two heavy sets and the rest of your training is lighter + full-range lifting, then you can test your PRs from time to time. That way, you avoid injury (which might keep you from lifting again since we don't heal so well without those youthful hormones).

But enough doom and gloom lol - you did AWESOME work and I know I get bummed sometimes thinking "I wish I'd started lifting a long time ago" 😭. For competition with your younger self is a great motivational tool! 💪

Thanks Chrisw77, I mainly do high rep training, but I also know I overdo it, both with weights and with reps. It's addictive for me. I have enough aches and pains for ten men. I wore my body out not in the gym, but doing construction. I only started lifting when I was 54. I only lifted one semester in HS.
