I have a question for the people counting calories only. Do you try to eat as many calories as this app says or do you try to eat as few as calories as possible? I have been trying to eat as little as possible and it isn’t working. The first month I had one cheat day a week and lost about 17 lbs I figured if I ate less and cut out cheat day I would lose even more. But I have hit a wall. Help please!

The first month I averaged about 1300 daily I lost 17lbs. Then I thought if I got that lower I would lose even more. So I started averaging 900-1000 a day and stopped losing. I actually even gained a couple pounds… Before starting this I probably ate 3000 calories a day I never paid much attention but I gained almost 80lbs in a year. So I knew I had to do something. I don’t understand how if I am eating less and less calories I don’t lose

I too will not lose or sometimes even gain weight if I go to far below my 1200 calories. It also depends on how active you are. Remember, CICO. Keep tweeking your intake and you'll find what works for you.

The calorie recommendations of the app are too high for me and for many. I try to aim for a certain number that makes more sense for me based both on experience with weight loss and various professional recommendations. But I wouldn’t say to go for “as little calories as possible.” I go for a number that is low but not so low as to feel unhealthy. 17 lbs is a lot for one month! I know weight loss can be frustrating but consider trying to be happy with such rapid weight loss without going super low trying for super rapid unrealistic weight loss. Your body needs fuel and can only lose so fast. Just my two cents, take it or leave it and have a great day!

I use the count on here as a guide. To lose weight subtract 500 from whatever you’re given. Cutting out more calories has never worded for m. My body just shiatsu to that number. The thing that’s helped me a lot is counting macros. Protein is key and if not tracked I will fall short

For some people, cutting calories too much triggers the body to think there is a famine and it responds by slowing metabolism to conserve energy stores which results in slowing or even stopping weight loss. Look at your RDI for your current weight and activity level, then subtract 500 calories to get the daily calorie level to lose about 1 lb/week. You could up that a bit more, but faster weight loss is often associated with more stubborn plateaus and rapid weight regains. The body needs time to adjust to a lower weight. Changing things up can help break a plateau. Some people need to reduce their carb intake, others change the time of day for food consumption or physical activity. You have to try different things to find what works best for YOUR body. Best wishes on your journey!

Very good question! I've heard this app is "too liberal with the calories". That being said, I have absolutely no idea if it's true or not, because this is the only time I've ever tried to loose weight. What I CAN tell you, is that I use the limit they set as a guide and boundary, and then try to limit myself as much as possible below that. Some days are better than others, but it's not usually a problem unless there's a special event on a given day. Although I have only a couple of months worth of weigh-ins to go by (generally a week apart or so), the least favorable I've done so far is a 1.2lb loss in five days, with the highest being 3.6lbs in eight days. Some people do it faster with exercise, lower calories, etc.. But no matter what, the meals should be enjoyable and fulfilling, and the dieting plan should NOT be drudgery or it may eventually fail and show up in the tracking charts. ⚖️📉 Everyone's opinion will be different though.

I am recently rediscovering the value of fasting and intermittent fasting. Have been stuck on same weight for 3 weeks even though I am in a typical calorie (~1000-1100) routine. Decided to IF 18-19 hours 2 days in a row and finally dropped 2.2# in 3 days. Maybe a good way to break thru plateaus ?
