I'm a little confused? The calorie calculators I've used show that calculating my age/height/weight/sex I require "X" amount of calories per day to maintain my current weight. Over the last four weeks I've reduced this calculated amount from 30 to 50% daily......

I'm aware as you close in on goal weight the "in vs out" ratio gets a lot tighter and weight loss will be tougher, but when your just starting off any reduced calorie intake should show a positive result.....right?

I know long term, increasing activity, controlling calorie input will win the race.....I'm just not seeing that far down the road, I was hoping to see a little magic today.

Your chart says you are down almost 3 lbs in the past week. That's a great loss for the week. How much a person loses at the beginning of a diet can depend on many factors. One of which how much water weight they are retaining. Most big losses mean that you are losing water weight quickly. Low carb diets push water out of our cells, so the kinds of food you are eating can also effect that initial loss. If you were eating pretty healthy before the diet and then just cut some calories, you may see a smaller loss because you aren't losing the big amounts of water. Nothing wrong with that, because it most likely means you are losing fat. So great job on your loss. Onward and downward!!!

I've found the RDI is a lot higher on here than it should be. I had to manually adjust mine. On average men should be on a 1200 to 1800 if you want to lose weight.

Thanks all, my sugar levels must have been low:-) I entered my numbers once again on several calculators, using the proper numbers....... my weekly drop was within the target range. I'm thinking you get a clearer picture on your weight loss with long range vs. short range measurement's. Short range keeps you on program. I do love this forum though / support, the feed back keeps my car on the road. Thanks again.

It is easy to get discouraged. I did that last week. Time to get back with it for me. I am glad you are doing better

I really don't think it matters unless your losing weight :). As long as it's realistic :). If you weigh in every week & your not losing weight. Just adjust calories &/or exercise :). Hey. Any ideas for low fat, healthy snacks?? Beside fresh fruit, nuts, & raw vegies??? Would love to hear all ideas. Thanks :))
