TXSnowman's Journal, 23 Jun 14

Well, I'm leaving at noon for a 3 day conference in Ft. Worth. I'm taking my teen-aged grandson with me and I'll drop him at the DFW airport on Wednesday AM for his flight home to Ohio.

I'm still not able to walk well due to the slow healing of my calf from the dog attack. However, it is steadily improving. The resort at which the conference is held and where we'll be staying has a pool, a small fitness area near the rooms and a huge indoor fitness complex next door. I'm hoping to get some exercise in while I'm there.

I noted recently that I've slowly increased my carb intake over the past month or two. It hasn't been particularly detrimental to my weight (yet), but I feel a bit lethargic and blasé. So I decided a few days ago to put myself into ketosis. I've never been on a strictly LCHF regimen before. Although I was limiting carbs while losing weight, I was also limiting fat and total calories. After reading several studies, and watching many intelligent lectures on the subject, I think that in order to have continued success in health & weight maintenance over the long-term, I'm going to try to stick to a low-carb eating regimen. I've done very well at eating only whole foods and avoiding processed foods and fast foods, which I'm sure helps, as well.

Anyway, I hope all of you have a wonderful week and make great strides towards your ultimate goals of health & happiness.

Enjoy your trip TX and make the most of the facilities especially pool and some machines which will allow you to tone without high impact....and try and fit in a sauna for 20 mins followed by a cold shower or plunge pool for 10 secs! It will do wonders to your skin and your well-being! Hope wifey is recovering well! TC

Thanks Jenfar. The trip was great. I got several trips to the gym in and the facilities were great. I did 2 sessions on the stairmaster, and 70 minutes on the treadmill. I did hit the sauna for a good 20 min and then a swim in the outdoor lap pool. The wife had another MRI (or PET scan or CAT scan or something) while I was away. They believe that she has Post Concussion Syndrome. She's recovering well, but it may take a bit longer than we hoped to reach 100%.
