76dragonflies's Journal, 08 Jun 14

I spent most of yesterday in the pool with my 3 year old daughter (my boys who are 18 & 15 were aft work and their girlfriend's house). Eventually we went in and I threw on a quick short sun dress so we could run up to the grocery store. Well I caught a glance off myself walking in. I must have the opposite of anorexia and I promise I'm not being insensitive!! I looked in the mirror before I left and thought 'OK I kinda look cute in this' and then I catch myself in the glass sliding door to the store and almost went back home! Happens all the time..I'll get dressed and feel good UNTIL I see a picture of me! How are my eyes so deceiving??

So even tho I didn't journal my food yesterday I feel I did well. I kept busy outside and then bought some snacking alternatives..for dinner I had a few bites of an organic Mac & cheese I made for my daughter but her and I both ate a big plate of salad. A few strawberries for dessert and a few sips of vanilla almond milk to kill my sweet tooth! Migraine right now and then a smoothie for breakfast. Happy Sunday everyone!

I have the same feelings. We'll get thru this. We're all beautiful! Have a great Sunday!

I can so relate! But then I look around, and see others in my surrounding areas and notice that I'm not far worse or far better. I'm just average. And most people, I've noticed, would not make the cover of Glamour. And to top it off, those that do have been photoshopped. Basically, with age, I've come to more acceptance of my looks, and myself. The look hasn't changed, but the attitude has. I remember some friends telling me about themselves, 'if they don't like what they see, let them look elsewhere'.

It's funny because majority of people aren't that vogue model (probably doesn't help that both my sister's modeled...even for Playboy golf events) lol I think it's be easier if we could visually see every pound lost! Lol. I guess working in my weight and how I feel about myself go hand in hand! Thank you both!

whoa. i have the same body dysmorphia. is that what it's called? in my head i look one way and in the mirror i look totally different. i caught myself full frontal nudity in a hotel shower last weekend and i couldn't get over how fat i looked. that's what prompted me to join here. but i look around and i am not that far off average. i think as i lose more, i will feel better about looking in the mirror. and so will you.

Lol I hope so..I came close to spray painting my mirrors black so I couldn't look in any! I am so glad I'm not alone!

Store windows can be so cruel. How dare these windows "morph" our image. I - too - have a full length mirror that might make my image look thinner than I really appear. My plan is to shop for a realistic mirror.

Any mirror can be deceiving, what you see depends a lot on body position and angle of reflection. And reflections in store plate glass can be like those curved mirrors in amusement parks, yuck. Sounds like you had a nice relaxing day with daughter and did well, that's all good!
