Wt on my scale: 11 a.m. 198.8 (yesterday afternoon 196.4) +2.4 lbs in essentially same clothes.

Edema none detectable but weight up today I need to start weighing FIRST thing in the mornings instead of waiting until I have eaten etc. Probably get a better check on how much water I am retaining.

Got up aN took meds at 6:30 with a banana (for my stomach) then went back to bed and slept til the phone rang and then ate shredded wheat and milk and an apple. Had to put 1 cup instead of a half cup of milk on the S wheat in stead of the cherrios, but the SW has NO sodium, so ended up breakfast with a total sodium intake of 127 mg for the 1 cup of milk, which is an improvement over the cherrios.

Slept well, and didn't dry out too much. When I went to bed last night the second container had to have water added to it and the first one was dry, so it is working when the first one runs out of water. I've also been filling the humidifier for the room with hot water which makes it work better til it cools off any way.

David will be home today. Teri called and said she can't come today as she had decided she had to stay home and work on computer. That's okay.

Cooked a pot of white beans last night, am going to add more beans to my diet for the fiber and freeze some for use in chili instead of buying canned beans that have a lot of sodium in them. I did put 1/4 tsp salt in the beans (a BIG pot of them) and some onion and olive oil. so not salt free but LOW. Froze two containers of the beans. and also froze chopped celery and carrots. I microwaved the carrots before freezing, but didn't fully cook them. I hope that works out okay. If I fully cook there will be liquid will cause a problem in the vacuum sealer so will try this and see how it works out. Can't find carrots without salt in cans and can't find them frozen either. except in mixes of vegetables. The low/no salt in even partly prepared foods is a big problem.

I made home made chili last night using the pinto's I cooked the day before. It helps as I don't have to cook every day that way. Its hard to find processed foods with out salt added. Glad you are keeping the water containers filled.

I cooked some white beans today and froze 2 pints to use in chili (I was out of pintos in the house and didn't want to treck out to the big freezers) David is on his way home but won't be here til 8-9 pm so he is probably already "fed" on the way. I froze some spagetti sauce that I didn't want to ruin. Will be having some company (hungry young men) over the weekend and will thaw it out. Have a roast out to put in the crock pot, will do that tomorrow. I use a crock pot a lot experially in the summer time, and a toaster oven, but used to bake a lot in the winter, but don't guess I will be doing that any more. I took some carrots and "blanched' them in the microwave and then froze them in the vacuum seal bags for future use in stews and soups. I like to make one dish meals when I can too so I don't have to cook every day either. I think I washed dishes all day though. I also put up 2 stalks of celery that I got on sale for use in stews and such. Seems like I spent all day on my feet. Got my office cleaned up finally and most of the filing done (got one banker's box left to go but isn't anything important!) a Friend called and talked for 2 hours, so I am about ready for bed now! Want to ride the bicycle a bit more though. I had some of my KILLER turkey breast soup for supper. Green peas, corn, rice, carrots and chicken breast and lots of spices and poultry seasoning but NO salt. The turkey has some sodium in it but diluted with everything else not much I don't think. Well, got to take my pistol to the gun smith tomorrow and see about a new barrel for it. When we were killing stock the other day for a friend a shell misfired and got stuck in the barrel, idiot me, I pulled the trigger again, it is a wonder it didn't blow up in my face, GOOD steel for sure! The animal was "dead" but she was still twitching so I was going to blow the top of her head off with the pistol "just to make sure" before we started skinning her...I'm an old softie. I go to the butcher with my cattle if I'm having it commercially done so they don't get "scared." I don't mind killing them but I just don't want them to be afraid or hurt. I don't even like it at all if you have to shoot one twice so if they still twitch when you touch their eye ball, their brain isn't completely destroyed so I "make sure." Sorry I ruined a good pistol barrel though. LOL

OMG you are so much braver than I am. I am so glad I don't have to do any of the killing of ours. I would cry my eyes out. The first year we started having calves I cried every time we lost one. Its even harder on me now because March 12, 2008, I lost my mother she was only 75, April 16,2008 I lost my dog of 12 years and 8 months old. May 2nd,2008 we lost a baby calf. I had a nervous breakdown and had to get some Zanex had to take it for 2 weeks just to function. June was my mothers birthday month, July was my dogs birthday month. I guess you could say I am a wuss. I know I am to sensitive about some things.

Yay, David is home! He needs to check or do a few things around the house:) Glad to hear your sleep is better. And you're so good at finding low sodium ways. I only get fresh veggies because of sodium. I was surprised to see the sodium is high in chicken drumsticks. Much higher than breast meat. Have you try winter squash soup? You just slice it and boil it with water and mash it. Nothing to add on. So sweet and filling yet low calories. Have a happy Thursday, Joyce!
