So... for everyone that isn't a 20 something male, I made a great find. As we all know, men over 30 have ever declining levels of testosterone and women have a naturally lower level throughout their lives.

Amy Cuddy, a professor at Harvard Business School, has conducted studies about the physiological / psychological link between power poses and actual power. The results of blood tests show that by just standing or sitting in a "Power Pose" for two (2) minutes can RAISE your free testosterone level by 20% and LOWER your cortisol level by 25%.

It has been scientifically proven that decreases in testosterone in men AND women will lead to fat gain. Science has proven that increasing testosterone levels causes fat loss. There is also evidence that raising testosterone levels back into the normal range will increase lean muscle, especially with exercise. As for Cortisol, increased Cortisol levels are known to cause visceral fat creation, weight gain, and a host of other health problems (including blood sugar imbalance & Type 2 Diabetes).

So, based on Cuddy's research, I have started striking a Power Pose for two minutes before working out to raise my testosterone and lower my cortisol levels.

What is a Power Pose? Think of the Superman or Wonder Woman pose...stand with your feet spread about shoulder with apart of a bit more; hands on your hips; chest out; chin up. That's it. Just hold that pose. Or you can stand with your feet spread shoulder width apart and your arms in a "V" over your head like you just one the big game. Or you can lean back in a desk chair, feet propped on your desk, hands behind your head, elbows spread out to either side. Any of these will provide the results you are looking for.
