jcmama777's Journal, 21 Jul 20

Just had my rheumatologist appointment. Hence the weigh in. 🤗 BP 120/80, pulse 108. My fibromyalgia is bad so getting put back on Gabapentin. My methotrexate was upped to 8 💊 a week ( 20 mg) from 6, but my labs show its affecting my kidney/liver. So now I’m starting methotrexate injections as it’s less damaging then the pill. I had both knees X-ray and I’m to wear knee braces with all exercise and and at work. She wants me to see ortho for a consult for bilateral shoulders. I have calculations in both that has been debilitating for years, worse the last year and she thinks I need surgery. I have very limited range of motion. Encouraging swimming. I said oh know problem because it’s my favorite 🤗💪. So that’s that. Hope you’re all having a great and safe Tuesday friends ☺️☺️💪💪☀️☀️💜💚

Hi friends 🥰❤️ I’m ok. This has been going on for a while. It’s a year since my first rheumatologist appointment. Started on Plaquenil, methotrexate added after my bilateral hand/wrist ultrasound. I’m ok, this is just a part of my life. The visit today, well it’s fine. Just need to adjust things. My great grandma was crippled so bad by RA, she went into a nursing home🥺 I don’t have time for that🙌🙌 I have a lot of life ahead of me ( God willing) I have had pain for years. I’m thankful to have diagnosis. It’s fine🥰 yes, I hurt everyday, it doesn’t define me. I work around it and do what I can for exercise. Thank you all for advice on supplements ❤️ I currently take Vitamin complex B, ashwaghanda, Apple cider, tumeric ( I cook with) magnesium and chromium piclonate. I will definitely look into suggestions and thank you so much for sharing and what has helped y’all 🥰🙌 I’m not about excuses. Many of us have medical conditions. Between my asthma and RA, it’s a steroid life. I’m proud to be 75 lbs down 🙌💪💪 269 before starting her and 265 when I joined. I’m here 1.5 years and lost all of this weight and I’m greatfull 🙌💪💪💜💚

JC have you considered CBD either with or without THC for the fibromyalgia. I know people who use it specifically for fibro and arthritis with amazing success. Is the methotrexate specifically for your fibro?

Davehoward63—are you getting the Naltrexone to help with your fibromyalgia issues or to deal with the addictive properties of some of the meds you have had to take for your ongoing pain.

tr3vi28, hugs friend🤗❤️ Fibro is definitely painful. We do have a lot in common friend! Steroids suck but definitely help🙌 Gabapentin is used for seizures, neuropathy and spasm associated with pain and definitely helps with fibromyalgia. I was put on it to help me while waiting for my first rheumatologist visit. Mention it at your next visit hun 💜💚

Kenna, thanks for the advice friend ❤️ I’m leary because I don’t want the munchies, but the oil seems to help a lot of people. I also don’t want to feel loopy, as I have babies and work long hours. The oil though, might be very helpful 💜💚

I was going to ask the same thing. Naltrexone is most commonly used for a drug or alcohol addiction, but also used in combination with other meds for weight loss. That’s interesting to know the medication can help with Fibromyalgia. You explained Fibro 💯. That’s exactly how it feels 😩😩😩💜💚

Don’t apologize Lillie☺️it’s hard to navigate when you’re new and I still am not tech savvy. If on your cell, you will see a pen at the top to journal.💜💚 Remember, this is your journey and you journal away🙌 It’s super helpful.

Soon I'm going to see my 5th rheumotoligist just because I was in denial wanted other answers for feeling like shit I wanted a cure but there is none 😔my pcp discussed maybe trying cymbalta just because I've heard gabapentin can make you drowsy.

tr3vi28, oh friend 😩 it’s a lot to take in when sent to rheumatologist. You’re on prednisone for a reason luv, you have things going on. I had to wait a year to get seen, but thankfully my rheumatologist are on it. We don’t ultimately want to hear that we have a condition, but at the same time it can calm the fears of what our minds can come up with. Cymbalta is a commonly used med in rheumatology. It acts in two different ways. Always continue to advocate for yourself friend at these appointments and say what hurts and where. They should be checking every finger point for tenderness and ordering labs to look for inflammation like a Sed Rate or CRP. Hang in there!! ❤️❤️❤️💜💚

Just read my bilateral knee results. Osteophytes in bilateral knees and joint fluid. This isn’t surprising to me. It explains why I hurt so bad going down stairs and trying to use my stairclimber or exercise in general. So, knee braces for sure and keep it moving 💪

JC— you could consider CBD alone— no THC. It comes in all sorts of forms. Gummies are popular and the oil used locally apparently can be very effective. But, like anything else,it can be expensive and, of course, not covered by insurance. I have an acquaintance with all the bone, joint , arthritis issues and had run the gamete of narcotic pain meds. She took them but actually got very little relief. She tried the CBD during the day and takes just One dose of CBD with THC at bedtime and now takes no narcotic meds at all. Another friend takes it for cancer pain and as of now requires no narcotics and she is approaching the terminal phase. I have never had a need to try it but some of the testimonials I hear are very encouraging. Both are legal her in California and no physician order required.
