Why are so many of us overweight? Obese?

In the 1950's when I was in grade school, there was only ONE fat kid.

He was ridiculed for it.

So, why are we a nation of over 50% overweight NOW?

We have NOT just become a nation of people who are uncontrollable over-eaters.

It's complicated, but let me explain what I learned:

For 150 years, ending in 1980, we were a nation unique in all human history: we had more WORK than workers.
(Richard Wolff, economist), so workers would continue to increase in wages every year or every decade, since they could just quit and find a better paying job.
It ended for several reasons:
1. we reached a tipping point on immigration. (the world flocked here to cash in on the streets paved in gold).
2. Computers were invented.
3. Corporations started OUTsourcing labor to 3rd world countries, instead of here. So wives HAD to start working.
This resulted in us all working longer hours, commuting longer to get to work, and back.
4. So, wives started working, no longer a good breakfast fixed every morning by mom.

So, we had little time to EAT. Skipping breakfast? Easy to do. Long commutes? yes. even less time to eat properly.

Then corporations, always willing to 'help' started fixing our food FOR us.

There used to be grocery stores, which had the ingredients for us to make meals, some canned goods of course, but they had all the basics: fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, flour, sugar, salt...

But after Corporations started fixing our meals, they had to start making SUPERMARKETS, Huge stores that have tens of thousands of products, MOSTLY packaged food, that are ALL HIGH CALORIE, SALT, SUGAR, FAT, foods that are NOT nutritious.
They even tempt us by calling some desserts "DECADENT".
Are we totally brainwashed? or what?

Now, I don't believe corporations set out deliberately to get us all fat.
It's just the nature of these monsters we humans have invented: cyborgs. who can not possibly have ANY emotion, or compassion, or remorse. These are corporations, who can't die, can't be controlled or more than reprimanded a little.
It is their nature to do only ONE thing: increase profit.

They cut costs, use the best subtle psychology to manipulate us to buy what they sell, what they NEED to sell.
They are so clever, but are only mindless cyborgs with tunnel vision.

BTW, on that point; since 1980 (Richard Wolff points out that):
1. since corporations no longer increased the wages of the workers (Since 1980, adjusted for inflation no one got a raise, except CEO's & top management), they couldn't figure it out, why suddenly they were making so much money.
2. they wrote books about how they (Turned around Ford motor company... or whatever), but THEY JUST THOUGHT THEY WERE GENIUSES.
Therefore, SO MANY OF US ARE FAT FOR THESE REASONS, NOT BECAUSE WE ARE WEAK, OR STUPID, OR JUST 'TEND' to RETAIN TOO MANY CALORIES.

The solution for weight is simple: avoid packaged foods, including cereals; count calories; EAT A HUGE BREAKFAST. CHANGE TO WORRY ABOUT GETTING ENOUGH calories BEFORE 2pm, so we won't be hungry at dinner time.

Eating the largest meal at dinner (did you know that dinner used to be at Mid day?) only allows our body to turn it into fat and store it safely away to compensate for the famine we are in, since we skipped breakfast or only ate less than 500 calories when we need it the most??

My breakfast is always around 1000 calories.
My lunch is close to that.
and I am NOT hungry at dinner time, I DON'T crave cookies unless I skimp on breakfast or lunch.
