In short, I am oversimplifying but this way it's easier to understand. Glycine - powerful antioxidant (the most abundant amino acid in collagen, a structural protein good for your skin, joints, and bones). Proline is another amino that maintains the flexibility of both muscles and joints and helps reduce sagging and wrinkling that accompany UV exposure and normal aging of the skin. Hydroxyproline is great for your skin as it prevents aging as well. Prolyl-hydroxyproline, a tiny collagen fragment, may help your skin produce more hyaluronic acid. Arginine improves blood flow, among others, so it's good for our heart. By the way, arginine is an amino acid that the body cannot make naturally.

No worries V...when I was your age the only cardio I could afford to do (time wise) was skiing and golfing, both sports I still enjoy...if you only have time for a few training sessions a week, resistance training is your biggest bang for the buck, followed by HIIT (very close second).

Note that intense resistance training is for sure a form of HIIT.

I like to mix both resistance and cardio together. I can’t jog as I’ve had 3 back surgeries. I have worked up to doing level 16 resistance on my home elliptical. That allows strength training in legs and arms as well as cardio benefits. It also helps my fitness and lung capacity for the gym.

You actually can keep working your calorie deficit. I did it for a year and I didn’t stop losing weight until I ate more calories. Yes, at times, the weight loss stalls, but every month I lost 5 lbs or more of fat. 500 calorie deficit per day will do the trick!

Once again good post and great looking food! 👍🏻 Another essential amino acid (your body does not make this one either) good for collagen production is L-lysine. This also helps create carnitine (a substance found in most cells that helps move fat to use as energy).

Steven, yes HIIT could be an option. I tested a few times in a small group, now I am not a huge fan of group classes for various reasons so I just stick to my individual sessions 💪

Jonathan congrats, I don’t have enough motivation to keep my butt on an elliptical. I like to do combined exercises where a lot of muscle groups are being used at the same time and it’s not the case with a bike or a treadmill besides being boring to death.

Vague well what Love2Educate said. Also I don’t plateau, I’ve been steady in the past few years but thanks. There are a lot of people who don’t do cardio, but lift and trade fat for muscle in a more efficient way. Diablo posted a few good studies about this.
