BuffyBear's Journal, 20 Jan 13

First of all I'd like to thank everybody for your comments yesterday. I had a nice relaxing day. Calories went a little over due to Grandson and I experimenting with protein shake recipes - but it was all good!

Going out this afternoon to an early dinner with the girls. Will be at the usual Mexican place where I know exactly what to order. All I have to do is stay away from the chips!

I went grocery shopping yesterday and thought I did pretty well - considering all the money I spent. Then realized this morning I had forgot to buy any meat for DH's dinner. I asked him if he minded having leftovers and that is when he informed me that our stepson will be eating here as well. So, anyway, it is back to the grocery store I go!

How did the experiments go? Did you come up with something good? Glad you had a great time. ///Well, since you know what to eat at the Mexican restaurant it should not be a problem for you at all. You will ignore the chips!/// So, what are you cooking for DH and stepson? Is he still sticking to his diet?///Have a great day Buffy :-)

LOL.. considering all the money you spent. It's my experience that when you do well, buy healthy I mean, you spend more. So using that gauge, I'm sure you did fabulously. Enjoy your stepson and your Mexican food with the girls. Although my family lives in Mexico, I would not be able to eat Mexican easily. Must be all that meat and cheese. LOL. Sorry about the second shop. Hope it's at least not icy and snowing terribly there.

Jozette - here is my favorite (so far): 3/4 c unsweetened almond (or coconut) milk, 2 teasp. cocoa, 1 teasp instant coffee, 1 pkt sweetener, 1/3 scoop pure whey protein powder and 4 ice cubes. I am addicted. As for DH, he really is doing better. Dinner will be chicken and vegetable alfredo. I'll use only half the pasta and let the veggies substitute for the rest. Wishing you a wonderful day as well!

Heather - You are so right about the cost - but I consider it "real" food and I'd rather pay the farmer than the chemist. As for weather - sunny and 60. There is a reason I moved to NC!

Buffy - I just ran that through the recipes and I am wondering, is this a substitute for a meal? Looks kind of high with 6 net carbs.

Enjoy your time with the girls and that Mexican dinner. I have a hard time staying away from the chips as well. Our church is having a girl's night out at Olive Garden...probably won't be going as there is just nothing low enough in carbs at a pasta joint. Sorry about the extra trip to the store!!

Jozette - yes, it would be a meal substitute or a hearty snack. Would be very easy to get carried away with them!

Stef - I've never had a problem with Olive Garden - I always ordered those "skewer meals" (can't remember what they call them). And now they have a new "Off the Grill" menu. It is the sugar in the salad dress that gets me.
