Breaking my fast at 20 hours. Was aiming for 22 but probably due to my first intense fasted workout last night I was feeling a bit weak this morning. Listening to my body. Liking these big meals. Aiming for under a 4 hour eating window today.

Thank you! Still working on it now, it's delicious. About 1300 calories, which I love. :) Pre-made guacamole from ALDI with no crappy ingredients is a great addition.

I do better when I start my refeed meals with eating proteins with fat. They fill me up. If I start with the carb content I can overeat too easily (I can overeat easily LOL)So that plate would be perfect for me :)

Liv001 yes, I'm sure I would over eat if I started with carbs. Refining my food so I'm always nutrient-dense, whole food keto. I cooked my eggs in ghee and there's two tablespoons of olive oil on the salad. Yuuum. :)

Great meal! Is it hard to you make meal windows, or not? when I'm studying at home I usually want to "bite" something.

When you do your liquid fasting the 22 hours is it just water, juicing, or what. I'm knew to this and the high fat and protein diet is a bit overwhelming and uncomfortable.

SD-H I'm sorry you're feeling uncomfortable! That's very normal for the first few days or even the first two weeks or so when you first transition to high-fat. Your body is building up the enzymes and other machinery needed to function efficiently on your new way of eating. I promise it gets much easier soon. What I've heard and what worked for me was to go easy on the fasting, especially at first. 2 weeks of 16 hours fasted (an 8-hour eating window) 3-4 days per week is PLENTY to see and feel results. Especially as women our hormones are super sensitive. If I ever find myself super hangry, feeling a dark emotional mood or being really short with my boyfriend, that's my cue to BREAK the fast because I'm pretty sure my cortisol is too high at those times. Keeping carbs low and staying comfortable are the two most important things in transitioning to keto/LCHF. Everything else comes second.

SD-H in answer to your question, for the few longer fasts I've done it's just water, black coffee, sometimes a little apple cider vinegar and or/salt in my water. Not sure which kind of juicing you're referring to - fruit or vegetable juicing is definitely not an option for keto as the carbs would be too high to lower insulin enough for ketosis and would likely leave me really hungry. A "fat-fast" with just ghee or coconut oil in coffee or tea would be much more satisfying and cause much less of an insulin spike. Dr. Berg on YouTube has many great videos on intermittent fasting and LCHF in general. Stay positive, be patient with yourself and eat lots of satiating meat and dark leafy greens for now! Good luck!

Hey all - thanks for the comments! *In the end I did NOT complete a 22 hour fast after this*. I think doing the two long fasts consecutively was a little too extreme for my body - started getting pretty emotionally tense and I listened to my body. Instead of a super long fast I went carnivore the following day. I LET MYSELF EAT as much as I wanted - 2000+ calories of high-fat carnivore! I felt amazing the next day and not nearly as hungry. Mostly carnivore the following day too to really lower those carbs, ate high-quality meat, eggs, and coconut oil. This was comfortable for ME because I've been mostly keto for a few months now. Down almost 2 pounds after those two days. Always listen to your bodies, especially you ladies!! Don't go around hungry and miserable! If you're a little uncomfortable or a little hungry when you first start fasting, fine. If you feel terrible and the scale is stuck, re-feed with LCHF and give your body a break, then try again in a few days. LOVE, PATIENCE AND NOURISHMENT are key.
