Usually when they sell them by the slice the pieces are big enough to be considered 2-3 smaller slices so they usually fill me up. It depends on my stomach size. Now that I am eating less, I can be satisfied on less food. When I was over 220 pounds, I'd need two of those large slices and dessert lol

I was talking to Liv reference her white dough and fat Americans comment. I know some can't control their calories when eating truly tasty stuff like pizza. I still found it funny that she is putting down something more nutritious than many items in her diet calendar. She also did this on demigods post. If you don't like what someone else eats, scroll on by, no need to put them down or make false statements about the nutrition value of cheese, bread, meats, and veggies on pizza when you put pure grease on food or use heavy cream everyday.

Why do I suddenly want pizza??? 🍕

I used to think it was oregano or sage or Italian spices that made me want to just put more and more into my mouth. This too was when I was eating more so my stomach adapted to the volume. I've been through many 'self tests' trying to unlock the mystery of the uncontrollable foods and I cooked a steak with those seasonings and it wasn't the same. So I do wonder if it IS the dough and if the dough just somehow promotes the need for 'more' in me. Like, garlic rolls at the Italian place, those cheese biscuits at Red Lobster, or the tortilla chips with Mexican.

And that made me reflect on other type foods that I didn't seem to grasp the serving size. Saltine crackers. Biscuits. Sandwiches with bread. Potato chips. Maybe it's the starch? Again, I'm not saying pizza is bad. I would LOVE to find a really good thick deep dish pizza. Responding to your comments is making me realize there was a connection to the over consumption.

I do, however, have the HWC in my coffee daily. I've backed off on the coconut oil because I originally did it to help control my hunger but found it wasn't needed. I may test without the HWC tomorrow to see if that can be eliminated.

I drink my coffee black. If I did not I would be using liters of cream since I drink a lot of coffee. But I believe that many people benefit from some fat to keep the insulin low and the body in a happy fat burning mode. That is where my body is.

I used to drink coffee all day. Now usually one cup; sometimes a second on the weekend. At one point I really got out of hand with it because I loved adding eagle brand condensed sweetened milk to it for iced coffee. Esp as it comes in chocolate and caramel. But, hey, it was fat free, LOL. Sigh... when ever I see someone's profile that they want to gain weight I'm mentally waving my hand 'I got ya, right here...'

I think 'that' is the phrase that gets me. Fat burning. I have to remind myself it's the absence of carbs that leads to my body using the fat ( I hope, I hope, I hope) from my daily intake. I try to remind myself the fat I already own will eventually dissipate with the weight loss.

Carbs have nothing to do with your body "burning" fat or not. Being in ketosis simply means that your body uses the fat for energy, the dietary fat that you're eating and if you're in a calorie deficit also some body fat. People who don't do low carb also burn fat for energy if they are in a calorie deficit, but their body will go to the glycogen for more strenuous activities. At the end of the day, your net calorie intake versus your burn will determine your net fat gain or loss.

It seems you just reiterated the same thing I said but used better words.

Keeping carbs low works great. It keeps bloodsugar low and helps with fatloss. What is not to love.

Well I love it. I do love having loosened the reigns a bit to get more veggies. I was starting to crave those far more than donuts. Or even pizza, lol.

You mean it helps you eat less? You make it sound like blood sugar levels affect fat loss in another manner.

Hmm I'm not sure if you're addressing me or Liv. If me, no. I am not the science expert here. I'm just sharing my experience and observation. I haven't had carbs in the form of bread, dough, biscuits, etc for several months except for a couple of cheese burgers. I don't miss it. I am paying a lot of attention to my hunger and triggers, etc. It may of been purely psychological but those two times with the burgers I didn't feel well. Nauseous actually to the point I wanted to scrape my tongue. On the other hand when I've made myself a large salad or serving of vegetables only I'm hungry again within an hour despite the quantity being very filling. Protein and fat dispel my hunger for hours and help me manage the deficit for weight loss. My blood sugar readings indicate this works for my body.

@bella, have you considered that it might be the cheese or sodium? Cheese is something I have issues limiting. Cheddar at home to be exact and mozzarella on pizza. Something all those things you mentioned have in common is flour and salt. Even cookies have a pinch of salt or more in each recipe. Chips don’t have sugar but I believe the others do. Not sure on pizza crust as I’ve never made my own. Sodium would be an easy thing to test as long as you aren’t adverse to some water weight gain that may take a week to come back off. 😉

Peep - are you saying I should increase or decrease the cheese? And am I misunderstanding salt vs sodium? Is it helpful or not?

Well, the results of the great HWC experiment are in. I couldn't drink coffee without it. Not without making the 'I'm drinking coffee without creamer' face. One tablespoon only instead of two means I've been feeling hunger at least an hour earlier than normal. So, I think I'll stick with the two tablespoons in the morning coffee. Experiment concluded. Where's my nobel prize?
