Nidoqueen's Journal, 24 Apr 19

I am done losing weight or even caring if I lose any more.

That's not a negative statement, nor one of defeat. This is pure joy! I am very happy with me these days. According to the BMI index (please, no flaming, I know the BMI is bogus but my doctor likes to talk about it) I am still in the "overweight" range at 26.1, but I am so so far from the 41.2 that my doc has in his charts from a year ago, that we can all be happy with this number.

As for me, I'm 55, married for 30 years to a man who loved me at my largest and has never seen me the size I am now. He too has lost over 90lbs so we are brand new people as we approach our retirement ages. We have settled on the low-carb way of eating for the rest of our lives and we are both comfortable with our standard fare.

Thanks to my local Goodwill, I have an entire closet full of clothes that I love and wear comfortably. I discovered $1-Day where everything of a certain tag color is $1, no matter what. I have name brand clothes and shoes (I lost a SHOE SIZE! Who even knew?) that I got for $1. Since I am now a true size Medium, the selection in my size is phenomenal! So much more fun that picking 1 of the 5 items in size 3X.

So I said all that to say that I probably won't be posting as much in the future. I may (or I may not) lose those final 7 pounds to put me at the goal I arbitrarily picked when I started a year ago. It is a number that would make my BMI 25, or "normal". Do I really care? No. One of the many things I've learned on this journey is that numbers are suggestive. My number on the scale, the BMI numbers, and even clothing size numbers are all superfluous. What matters is that I can wear nice clothes, look good in them, feel good living my life, and most of all, be healthy.

I have a tiny blog I started when all my friends kept asking me the same questions about how in the world I managed to lose all that weight. It's nothing professional and probably never will be, but if you want to follow my Keto journey and see some of the lessons I learn(ed) along the way, here's the link:

Have a blessed day!

Wonderful news! That is kind of how I'm feeling. Lost my pregnant looking belly - healthy BMI/body fat - clothes are better fitting. Physically pretty much there. Never liked being controlled by numbers (although BMI is a good base tool if you are average- not really if you are muscular) because you also have to align goals with mind and spirit. Health is trifold - healthy mind, healthy body, healthy spirit. Keep perspective and just be regular. At the end of the day, it's about living and enjoying life outside the screen of a computer/phone app (unless you are someone who truly has an addiction, in that case it's good cause it's more like having a sponsor). Good luck!

You are amazing and I am so excited for you and your husband. 30 Years is almost unheard of anymore. I am 42 and have been married for 20 years now and we are the only ones left of our original group of friends that are still married. I know we are blessed. I am just getting started on my new healthy life and am also doing low carb. It’s amazing how much more energy I have and how much I really don’t miss the crap I used to eat. Your journey is amazing and I hope to be there next year at this time and maintaining no longer needing to lose unless it’s my choice and not because my Dr is yelling at me about the bs BMI chart. Best of luck to you both may you be blessed with many more wonderful years of joy and happiness. Thank You for sharing your wonderful story and accomplishments.

Fabulous!!! Especially the long marriage. Many of our friends are divorced and on thirds!! So sad. When something breaks, fix it right? At least try. Some give up before it even breaks nowadays. Please keep posting though. I’m fairly new but many have said they gain it all back and they were the ones who stopped posting, idk, just a thought!! You sound so confident. It’s a great attitude!! 👍🏻❤️

SUCCESS! I love to hear it! I think it's amazing how far you have come. I'm at the beginning of my weight loss journey and I too picked a somewhat arbitrary number so we'll see!
