I feel like a fraud—I have eaten terribly for the last month or so. I’m up almost 5 pounds after hitting my goal 2 weeks ago (my birthday and 4th holiday didn’t help) I shouldn’t give anyone diet advice haha! Maintaining is definitely harder because I feel less motivation and can’t find a balance. I know how to lose weight but maintaining the weight loss is a new beast. Any advice for maintenance??

Couple thoughts. 1) First and foremost, you are not a "fraud." TBH, I am not interested in hearing you speak that kind of sh^t into reality. The truth is that you are a bad b^tch, who, after having 5 kids, has dropped 30+ pounds in a mere couple months while continuing to parent and receiving no support at home. 2) Little perspective... 5#, or ~4% of your finishing scale weight is not a big deal, or even a particularly impressive post goal bounce. I just put on 19# (~+10.4%) in 9 days. If you're a fraud, I should just throw in the towel permanently and go face down in the fettuccine right now. Or not, since after a mere three days back on my grind I am happier, look better (albeit less lean around the waist) than at my leanest, and am on my way to a new personal best. 3) Why did you lose the fat in the first place? I try to stay in touch with that. Straight up, I am vain AF. I know exactly how to look in the mirror and see my worst, and which pants to put on to piss me off about my waistline. I know you have those "skills" too. You may want to consider trying to find a way to harness them for the forces of good, instead of self deprecation. 4) Tactics. Lot's of potentially useful tactical advice from the seasoned dieters in your other responses. One I didn't see, though, and which occurred to me when I read your post, is "permission." Look, one life, right? I believe we gotta live now. That includes food, and even so called shitty food. I grew up in a family of terrific kitchens and now I feed everyone just like generations before. I can be ripped AND do that, and enjoy life fully, by compartmentalizing. July 4th? Off day permission granted. Birthday? Off day permission granted. July 5th? Look at my fat ass in the mirror, get my mind right, and get to work.... Let's go, baby! #turningpro #grindtime

I'm so excited to see what you do and how it works!!! I think if you handle it at 10lbs it will be easier than waiting until 10 or more. Don't give up!

We all slip up. Start again at your next meal! I take it one meal at a time!

Oh my goodness you are all the best! Thanks for cheering me on and giving me advice. @jimmiepop—you are so right and made me laugh out loud. Thanks for the reality check. I need to and will find the balance between living/enjoying food and staying at a weight I feel good at. I never want to go back to where I was before losing this weight but I want to relax and enjoy good food once in a while. The trick is “once in a while” not most days of the week. I lost by eating lchf and my weight loss was way greater than the FS calorie deficiet said it should have been if 3500cals=1 pound loss. I’m not sure where I should be with calories so need to find that balance if I’m adding carbs back into my diet. Thanks everyone.

Maintenance calories are higher than cutting calories. More food in your system plus more carbs/sodium can easily explain 5 pounds.

It's only natural. Your advice is very helpful and that's why you reached your goal.
