Finished watching that McDougall video on diabetes.
Read all the comments, researched the links in comments (there a few that are violently apposed to the results John McDougall reports, and some had links to prove it. Unfortunately the links supported McDougall's findings. It occurs to me that the definition of a charlatan [A person who makes elaborate, fraudulent, and often voluble claims to skill or knowledge; a quack or fraud.] fits the accuser much better. Dr. McDougall backs up all with documentation, and his own experience.
I needed to try and find out if I'm indeed pre diabetic or even type 1 diabetic, and whether so or not: what to eat. :)
Looks like it's quite different than what I thought, being a lay person like most of us, we tend to see it as simple.
Type 1 diabetes is almost the opposite of type 2.
and getting fat is NOT a disease, it's a natural function: ! as in: we gain weight in summer or fall to tide us over for the winter. so when we gain over a healthy amount of fat, then the body deactivates insulin, so we don't gain more.
McDougall debunks taking medicines to reduce blood sugar, and proves these meds help very little, if at all and decreases our lifespan.
Bottom line is LOOKS LIKE I DO need and am doing a high carb diet [from before I watched this video], and it is working very well.
My blood pressure tested at 127/71, HR 55. yesterday, & 133/72, HR60 just now. I'm sleeping better, more energy.
I've been aiming for 60% carbs, no more than 30% fat, and 15% protein.
McDougall diet recommends 75% carbs, 10% fat, and 15% protein.
I'll shoot for 65% carbs, 20% fat and 15% protein.
just watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLqINF26LSA; which helped clarify what I really need to do:
cut down the fat even more! Dam! but I'm on the right track not eating any meat, any animal protein. :)
wish me luck. I'd also like to get rid of the pain in my hands, which I'm not sure is arthritis, but it hurts. Possible nerve damage that is cause by diabetes.

My elderly mother went to the doctor's office and said she was transitioning to a vegan diet. He supported it whole-heartedly and told her she's now eating the way we were intended to eat. He made many of the same points as this video did. Since then, she's reversed her prediabetes, lowered her cholesterol, and eased the pain and inflammation of her osteoarthritis. It really works, folks. Both my mother and I have reaped the benefits of a plant-based diet. We will never go back to our old eating habits.
