Nidoqueen's Journal, 29 Jun 18

I just gotta share this. I read so many of your posts and often learn about new products or recipes that I didn't know about and it makes my journey so much better with all the new things I learn here. So I wanted to let you all know what MY favorite product is for this low-carb WOE.

I use Joseph's Flax, Oatbran & Wheat lavash for EVERYTHING. There is this product, and a pita from the same company. These two items have very low net carbs (5g for 1/2 a lavash or 3g for 1/2 a pita) and they taste wonderful. I use the flat bread to make a burrito casserole, bacon and tomato roll-up, lunch meat wraps, peanut butter and fruit wraps, and even cut it into very thin strips and put it with saucy dishes as a sort of "noodle". The pitas serve to hold fajitas, taco fillings, or any saucy type entree that would be good in a pita.

You can buy these directly from josephsbakery.com or from Amazon, but I get them at my local WalMart for much less that either online location. I buy these for $2.49 a pack at WalMart where they are $5.99 on Amazon. BUT, given how versatile and delicious they are, I'd probably pay the higher price if I had to.

I don't have a "sponsor" link nor do I get any sort of kickback or compensation for sharing this information, but I've learned so much from the community here that I wanted to contribute as well.

So if you are struggling to get your carbs down, and can't seem to get past the need for breads and wraps, here's my alternative that works great for me. I use a piece of lavash or a pita nearly every single day... sometimes twice :-)

Happy Friday!

Nice, we have a brand new Walmart so haven’t gone grocery shopping there yet. Today may be the day.

thanks for info! I normally 'cave' and eat one of the wraps my son buys which I'm sure are more carbs. I'll see if I can find them locally or go to Amazon :-)

Sounds great. I'm always looking for lower carb replacements for high carb foods. You said you found them at Walmart. Were they in the bread aisle or in the bakery area? Next time I go to Wally-World I want to look for them. Thanks for the heads up.

@BlueFront, they were in the bread aisle. At my store, you can stand at the end and look down the aisle... there are two "flat" sections. One has the Mission tortillas and things like that, and the Joseph's is in another "flat" section by itself. Joseph's makes 3-4 products that my Walmart sells and I've tried and love them all.

@Nidoqueen Oh thank you. I don't do Keto but I do try to stay as low carb as possible. I plan to go grocery shop Sunday. I will check that section of Walmart's bread shelves for this. Do you freeze them and take them out as needed? It'll probably take me weeks to finish them so I'll freeze them.I freeze individual servings of everything, ha ha!

@Bluefront, yes I freeze them. I buy 6-8 pkgs at a time and take them out as I need them. Between hubs and me, we go thru a package about every 3 days.

@Nido queen I found the Joseph's pita bread at Walmart this morning and tried one with my lunch. They taste wonderful. I ate half a pita with an egg and veggie omelet. I put a bit of peanut butter and a large sliced strawberry (my version of pb&j) on top of the pita. The package says 7 grams carb and 3 grams fiber so that would make one whole pita only 4 actual grams of carb. I'm already thinking about using one for a pizza base for tomorrow night's dinner. I can't thank you enough for this, it sure will improve the boredom factor in our diets.

@Highland Heather I just looked on the package of Joseoh's Pitas I bought today and it says (www.JosephsBakery.com) and the street address as 30 International - Lawrence, Maine - Zip Code 01843 - Phone # (987) 688-2221 so these appear to be made in the U.S. Don't know if they are distributed in Canada but maybe you can contact them for more information.

Thanks for the recommendation! My downfall is bread.

Hey @DEADPOOL, I can tell you that they are as tasty as they look. I like to warm mine up, which seems to even enhance the flavor even more.
