Good morning everyone - It is just a beautiful day today. My lesson learned for yesterday was really a bit interesting. Our cafeteria had fajitas for lunch. So I did the math and it all worked out with the vegetables and even the tortillas. I have been avoiding some heave carb items like tortillas (I am not Keto just lower/managed carbs) basically because they don't really bring a lot to the fight other than carbs. I like them I loved to have them in lieu of bread sometimes. As I was eating the first one I really thought that it wasn't as exciting as I remembered them to be. I ended up only eating one of the two allotted for the meal. I just thought it was interesting how my tastes are changing as I move away from the carby demons. I am not going to obsess on this it was just kind of an AH-HA moment. I hope that you all find joy and purpose in your adventure today.

Yes that is interesting. About a year ago I wouldn't touch a blueberry if it was covered in chocolate. Now I am popping them in like it's the best candy I ever had. And all of these years I have had 2 blueberry bushes in my backyard which I refused to eat from! How dumb! I do think it's interesting that you didn't really want those tortillas. Yesterday I got an egg and bacon biscuit and I had the same experience. Huh, this wasn't as good as I remembered. I hope you have a great day too!

We are diabetics as well and I crave bread but mostly sugar! I’ve been a sugarholic since I can remember. Now that we are eating low carb (not Keto per say) my cravings are dwindling. Two items I’ve learned over the past week. One, we give ourselves a cheat meal once per week. Last Friday we had mexican and chose a burrito. As I ate half of it, I realized I like the beans more than the flour tortilla! Go figure? Also, since I was craving my one sweet item every night, I decided to make low carb brownies with almond flour and avocados. The first few days I thought they were good but definitely not sweet. Now? I eat one every few days and find that they are way sweet 😂😂😂. On a side note, thank you for your journal entries. I find them very inspirational 😊

This is encouraging because carbs are one of my downfalls. I hope my tastes will change too. I think they will. After cutting back on a lot of the "bad" carbs for a week we went out to eat and I "treated" myself to spaghetti & meatballs with a salad and bread stick. I ate it all and didn't like how over full and lethargic I felt. IF I order pasta again, I'll decline the bread & request a take out container when my food comes so I can take half of it off my plate from the get go.

Good for you. Something similar happened to me with beans. I have really missed eating homemade pinto beans, or so I thought. Had some yesterday morning and for some reason my taste buds were like, "eh, no big deal". 😄 So, now it doesn't feel like I am being deprived, but simply making a choice. 👍

Those are great aha moments! Carbs usually don’t taste as good as I imagine they will when I eat them now.

It's amazing how our tastes change. I did 2 Whole30s and they totally changed my tastes. I no longer like cake! I don't care for pasta anymore. When I do make it, I use zucchini noodles and make a homemade meat sauce. I used to be a HUGE soda drinker...now I don't even touch it. I'd rather have sparkling water or unsweetened iced tea. Our bodies also learn to realilze how it reacts to certain foods. Since I did Whole30 and Paleo Fitpact, I learned that I do not tolerate gluten....AT ALL! It makes it easier to avoid not that I know how my body responds to it...just not worth consuming it! Keep up your great work and stay safe!!!! Kudos!

I don't know how people tastes change, I enjoy my whole wheat food, but white rice, corn tortillas ,flour tortillas and beans are going to be always my weakness, I have been eating all those lately, but I am using the "stop eating when you are full " I grew up eating those foods every single day plus we had to finish all our food even if we were already full, so I still tend to eat when full. 😕 I hope you have a wonderful day!!!

There are things I find myself using as an indulgence, like a piece of candy, and I realize it's not as great as I was expecting, so I wonder why I was looking forward to it. I think it's great you were aware that you didn't really need it or want it, so you could give up the other one. That awareness will help you along the way.

I’m also cutting out carbohydrates. I’ve noticed that my tastes have changed dramatically. Things that I used to crave are oftentimes now overwhelming. And I’m hungry I’m eating squash and dark leafy green vegetables. My cuts of meat are lean and I’ve cut out redmeat entirely. Not doing cheese anymore, too much fat. And finally I’m seeing results. If you have any tips I’d be interested in what they are!

Thanks for the support everyone. Kay, the biggest part of what I do is tracking my food, I run the numbers and plan every meal to match my WOE. It takes a bit to get it all down but it is more habit now.
