* The % Daily Value (DV) tells you how much a nutrient in a serving of food contributes to a daily diet. 2,000 calories a day is used for general nutrition advice.
Additional Description/Notes:
WARNING: Splenda contains significant calories and carbohydrates. The packets and packages comply with U.S. rules that allow them to list zero calories. However, the truth is that if you are using much you can easily blow a low-calorie or low-carb diet.

Actual Splenda content:
one half cup = 12 grams carbohydrate = 48 calories
1 cup = 24 gram carbohydrates = 96 calories

The Splenda official site is misleading as it says: "Has less than 1 gram of carbohydrate and less than 5 calories per serving, which meets FDA's standards for no-calorie foods." The serving size does is small and the lack of information does not allow for those of us who use a lot of sweetener, say, a cup per day or more.

The USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference shows that 10 grams, i.e., ten individual packets, of Splenda (NDB No: 19868) have 33 Calories. Ten grams of Splenda contain 9.00 g of carbohydrates consisting of 8.03 g of sugars (dextrose) and 0.96 grams of starch (maltodextrin).

For comparison, 10 grams of granulated sugar (NDB No: 19335) have 39 Calories. This is only 6 calories more than the equivalent weight of Splenda. Anybody who uses Splenda instead of sugar is saving an insignificant number of calories.

From another FatSecret user: Each packet actually contains 4 calories. If you eat several throughout a day you can contribute a significant amount of your caloric intake with this sweetner. Edit: Due to FDA regulations items under 5 calories can be labeled as 0. Accord to the makers of Splenda 1 tsp (0.5g) is actually 2 calories which make gram for gram Splenda the same calories as sugar. Because of the serving size being so small they list it as 0 calories which is untrue and especially when you're using a cup (28) and is actually 96 calories. I'll add the corrected calories to additional serving sizes.
