Tammie Mc's Journal, 06 Apr 18

Good Morning🌞❤ I have been on this health journey my entire life. I am taller than average, and my matabolism is slower than average. At least I am guessing it is slower than average, as I have no actual proof. You can see in my weight journal that I have been around 270 pounds for over 5 yrs now. I did go up to 303 during the most stressful time in my life. Three weeks ago, on Monday April9th, 2018 I once again became serious about getting my weight down as I strive to get healthier.

Why is this time different? The week of March 10th-18th, I made an emergency trip to Fort Worth, Texas with my older sister and brother because our oldest sister of 9 children was having some very serious heath issues, and we knew we wanted to be with her. That week, we watched our sister almost lose her leg and her life due to a blood clot that thankfully avoided passing through her brain, lung, or heart and ended up blocking her already 40% clogged Arteries in her leg. my sister had been a heavy smoker until she was 45 yrs old, and thankfully she layed down this habit 18 years ago to become healthier for her new grandchildren. unfortunatley, over 30 yrs of smoking (the dr's say) caused my sister, Frieda, to have PAD (Peripheral artery disease) at age 64 yrs old. on top of the 40% blockage my sister already had in her entire arterial system, my sister developed a heart problem called Atrial Fibrillation. According to the doctors, the AFIB, caused my sisters blood to back up into her heart a little at a time, which lead to a blot clot forming in her heart, leaving her heart, and landing in her leg. "Twice"!! Requiring emergency surgery twice!! During the first surgery the Doctor removed the clot, and preformed a very serious Coronary Artery Bypass Graft to restore blood flow to my sisters leg in attemps to restore circulation and save my sisters leg. Praise the Lord, my sister made it through the first surgery (coronary artery bypass graft and removal of a blood clot), and the second blood clot removal surgery, and is now on blood thinners to avoid more clots from forming, and she is on a very strick diet to restore her health so she can live a long life❤

After seeing my sister almost lose her limb and life, upon returning home from Texas, I had a entirely new view on my life. My husband and I have always joked saying, "If we die young just know we enjoyed every single bite!" After returning home, I told my husband, although I knew we were both joking and we really didn't want to die young, we needed to start doing everything in our power to get healthy, because it isn't guarenteed that our health would kill us, our health may be more curle to use and allow us to live after having strokes or losing limbs due to our horrific eating habits. For almost 3 weeks now, my husband and I habe been eating healthy and tracking our calorie into with this amazing App called "FAT SECREAT". I have not weighed, because I feel like if I do I will get off track and lose my focus. I have gained 4 notches in my belt. so my waist is shrinking. This journey is not about weight loss, it is about the long term health we plan to regain❤

My husband and I choose to take this health journey in honor of my sister, Frieda. We choose to do what is hard and make great health choices daily with you Frieda, because you matter to us, and we can do this together! Philippians 4:13, “I (WE) can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (US)!”
