johnwentzville's Journal, 27 Jan 18

Hi , things are going well - Hope everyone is doing well -

This is kind of a lookback journal -

Successes first -

I am having very much success eating chinese food especially shrimp, whitefish, green beans, chicken , broccoli, tomato , onion in all forms except fried - Salads are a big part of my success - Low carbs but good carbs and have a lot of volume for filler - Ranch dressing is a staple and it is not bad to have fat in my diet even losing weight - Rotiesserie chicken is always in the fridge and can be repurposed so many different ways - I eat the storebought frozen burgers and they also can be repurposed so many different ways - Good fats I don't mind because the body needs fuel to burn with the protein input, fat being the fuel burned -

I have eaten in the past 4 months 4 pieces of bread, 2 plates probably of pasta , milk none forever - I have loved these forever and do miss at a point - I do have ice cream once in a while or whip cream which is a great sub -

Carbs I am only doing in vegys and low sugar ones - Broccoli , onions , green beans, cabbage are staples - Corn, carrots etc are once in awhile because I miss them -

Cheese is not a big miss for me except pizza -

Drinking habits -
I drink lots of pepsi one and coke zero sugar and tea - I drink some water - I get alot of liquid in soups and stirfried meals. I don't cook out the fluid, I eat or drink and it is a great filler -
Alcohol is almost non existent but Bud Select or Busch Light and I drink 2 or 3 at a sitting - Very low carbs and short on calories - I don't have any use for wine, never had a taste for it -

Exercising - I am active but don't know it - My body seems to be always burning with the stomach being warm all of the time - I am down now where I have to start doing more recumbent bike and higher rep, lower weight (heart health) workouts - I would really like to play ping pong and tennis in the spring, depending on knee -

When I don't worry about weight loss so much ,it happens - The food I eat now was a staple younger, but lack of time, family, and bad habits always enter into it -

Failures include posting amounts of food I eat because people watching my journey would like to see what I've done - Again, when I worry about doing that, I get cocky or something changes , I lose my focus and go the other direction - I eat the good foods and I eat them til I am full -

Some of my biggest drop days for me are in a 3 day cycle. The 1st day is a big eat day and I just am hungry , but I eat the right things until I am content. I am drinking a lot of fluids, diet soda included, sorry, it makes the journey bearable - The 2nd day seems to be a guilt day , it seems, and I really just cruise , but I am not hungry and I drink a lot of fluids again - I don't remember if I am eating smaller meals more times or bigger meals less frequently. Sorry, this is my major shortcoming because focusing on it too much, gets me off of the path - Anyway, the 3rd day morning is when the success happens - I am not hungry and if I am, I eat so as not to punish my body - It is not my body's fault ,so why punish it -

My anology on weight loss and health in general, is that food is fuel, it can taste good, but it needs to be healthy - You need a fire to burn the fuel, which is your metabolism - You see fit people always eating. Why is that?

Using the fire anology, I want to use an example - Go start a fire in your fireplace or at the camp site - Now, we know our fire (metabolism) is burning but at what level? If it is not burning well, (slow metabolism), we need to lay off putting logs on the fire - We need to let the fire burn more (exercise) and get the fire to burn more intensely. As the fire starts burning, we don't put huge logs on the fire, we put small ones on to keep it going. Too big of logs will put the fire out (metabolism)or slow it down if it is not big enough . We do test the fire with some bigger logs(food) to see if the fire (metabolism) can handle it - When it is burning hot (high metabolism), it needs fuel (food) - If you don't eat enough (Bigger logs versus smaller logs), you could start starving your body of fuel and it goes into survival mode - It could go out - This is binge time and the worst one of all - When you are at a great metabolism level, putting bigger or smaller logs (food) in the fire becomes the major decision. Less food or more food - My opinion is , it is better to overeat a little as weight loss happens, than not enough - That is not an excuse to go crazy, I know this for a fact -
When you get your haircut, your hair will grow back. Don't be scared if you make mistakes -

Balance is so hard , we all know - How much fuel and what kind do you eat, metabolism rate, exercise level, stress level - etc and that is our daily chore -

I am excited for all of you - When I post like this, it seems that I have done something that I can be proud of and sharing this really may help somebody up in the air - I can only share what I know and feel , and the experiences (good and bad ) that have gotten me here -

I know ,as y'all lose, you feel the same - Being proud, a sense of accomplishment, winning attitude, 'you can do anything' mode is what I hope you can take away from this .

Somebody not having issues, doesn't understand , but I and we do -
I and we are here for you. Make the journey comfortable, make it fun, make friends, share experiences here and with your friends and family in and out of FS - I am truly blessed by everyone here and in my private life and thanks for that, everyone -

I am to the BLAH, BLAH, BLAH stage now where some are like , what an idiot , or yeah , I get that. However you feel, yesterday is gone , today you can make it happen, and tomorrow is only the result of today and the past coming to a culmination -

Thanks again , GO GREEN, BBBBBBBOOOOOOOOMMMMM !!!!!!, YOU GOT THIS, WHEN NOT IF and GOD BLESS - This is a wonderful time and tomorrow will be even better!!!!
