Putcake's Journal, 18 May 12

It's been a tough week. Our dog Elvis unexpectedly died last Thursday from bloat. It was sudden and we weren't prepared to say goodbye since he was only 7.

We were going to go to Maine for vacation, but extended family illness has postponed our trip until July or August. We went to Maryland instead to see my mom. We needed a break and we needed to get out of the house - since everything seemed to remind us of Elvis. Our other 2 dogs, Ginger and Bobby, are upset too - I don't know if they realize Elvis is gone or if they just know we're upset.

So needless to say, our loss, combined with stress about seeing my family, I have not recorded anything in my food journal and I'm up 2 lbs. It was 4, but I was better when I weighed myself this morning.

I've struggled with doing low carb the last few months. While I know that it works, I'm not fully committed to it and I've hit a plateau. I have been feeling really tired, unmotivated and depressed. I think I'm going to focus more on calories in, calories out. I need to step up the exercise and I was able to get a good start yesterday by run/walking on the treadmill and then I took my son for a walk in our neighborhood. I also did some crunches and wow - it didn't take much for me to tire out!

I'm going to continue to make healthy choices, but I'm going to try and incorporate more carbs since I think I do feel better having a little more. We'll see how it goes!
