This gall bladder thing has me stymied. I'm afraid to eat oil, but, of course, you need SOME oil to maintain health. I have a consult with a surgeon on Monday. I've read quite a bit about gall bladder removal since the attack and I'm afraid most of it is bad. It creates a whole new set of potentially yucky symptoms. I have to find out what the sonogram says and if it's possible to control this with diet . . . one more set of foods I can't eat. LOL!

I had my gallbladder removed 4 years ago. In the beginning it's tough with the higher fat foods as you are in the bathroom right away. Since my body has adjusted and I'm eating healthier I am having no problems. I am happy that it was removed because the pain I endured while having an attack was unbearable compare to the surgery.

Had mine removed about 4 years ago too .....absolutely no change apart from no more pain! I have. Ever had a particularly high fat diet, but can eat an Indian high in fat with no adverse effects. My GB had loads of stones and was severely infected, so was glad to have it out. Was lucky to only have 1 painful episode before I saw my surgeon then one before surgery.... And ate no fat before either attack. I did eat fat but it never seemed to directly bring on the pain.....odd. The pain was scary!! Good luck.

Bonnie, my dad had his gall bladder removed. He had been on a heart healthy diet for years, and he didn't change the way he ate afterward at all. He did just fine. Hope the consult goes well. Hugs and know I am thinking about you my sweet friend. Prayers are being sent your way!!! Love ya!

I'm happy to hear all these good reports. Some of the sites online are awful. They talk about "dumping", horrible gas, all kinds of awful issues. I eat very little fat anyway and almost no meat. I really don't want a repeat of last Friday. It was HORRID! That kind of pain is so hard to deal with. I've been overly cautious since the attack because I don't want to risk another. Thanks everyone for your input. It will help a lot with my decision on Monday.

Jo you need it taken out..it could get infected and then you will be in trouble..believe me you don't want that..and besides you can't believe all you read on the internet..People like to complain about any thing..some will cry if they have an itch..So hope you get some answers to all your fears from your doctor..let us know..take care of you...Love and Hugs...:O)
