Diea's Journal, 19 Feb 16

I'm super glad I didn't gain weight this week. I am experiencing so much stress, with papers and presentations and class and internship and meetings and having to do it all at home since I live by myself. There just isn't enough time in the day to do everything, much less relax and exercise and have a good weight loss journey. I did the math and figured out that I am working 60 hours during the week and 10-15 hours Saturday and Sunday. Ugh! No wonder not many people do graduate school. <:-I

I'm down to exercising 1-2 times a week with this level of stress, and it's really only 15-20 minutes. I figured something is something. Sleep this week was limited too. I super need my sleep, so I was thinking that the stress from not sleeping might have put on some pounds. I'm surprised and happy that I didn't gain this week.

So, considering how difficult this week was for me, I am super pleased with not changing the number on the scale.
72.1 kg Lost so far: 30.8 kg.    Still to go: 14.5 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.
steady weight

Breathe. Stress and life happen. But the more cortisol (stress hormone) that you introduce into your life, the more your body wants to latch on to fats and sugars and stores them for "emergency purposes". Sounds like you're still on track!! Keep it up and remember: #YouAreBeautiful!!

when i was in grad school, 2 boys under 3...ugh...15-20mins is good...work on some weights and speed cardio...when you're stressed your Cortisol shoots up and dumps your sugar....try to burn it off with exercise and Cortisol will drop quickly....if you leave it and stay stressed or "calm down" without exercise, Cortisol will simply add to your fat stores....good luck..

I was in graduate school twice (two different degrees) so I can relate...but I kept up with my exercise to manage the stress. Make time for you!

You are a most impressive woman. I hope next week is a little easier for you.

Thanks for the tips. I didn't know about the cortisol adding to fat with non exercise stress relief. Wow! I'm glad I'm still finding a little exercise time, more than before.

So glad you are going to school. I can relate. I'm taking classes myself at local community college to get my associates in nursing. I have 4 classes this semester. This week I feel like I'm drowning in homework. Keep up the good work!!!

You too Imarie33! Nursing is a great career! Best of luck to you. Drowning is a god word for how I feel sometimes. I'm glad you empathize. I definitely empathize with you as well. Beat the trenches!
