I need to look back at what I was eating this time of year in 2010. It just kills me when cherry season is over! I even dreamed that I was foraging in the fridge, looking for cherries and found a rotten one. I was debating whether or not to eat it. That's how much I love them. Soon we'll have honeycrisp apples though - and that's a treat.

I know what you mean about cherries. Peach season is about done, the number and quality of peaches at the supermarket is declining. Blackberry season has gone (and I love blackberries). For some reason there are still currants around. I've been eating a lot of fruit. It does fill me up for a very low caloric intake.

Fledgist, the blackberries were especially wonderful this summer! They just never seem to have enough for sale though, and they were relatively expensive. Seems like they'd be cheap since you can see them growing like weeds along the roadside. I'd stop and pick, but I won't brave the bugs, snakes, and pesticides.
