Got back to PT yesterday after 7 weeks off. Did not want to go but managed to drag myself there. I did enjoy it once I was there. How do you stop yourself getting bored in PT? It’s not my natural environment and I struggle quite a bit.

I never get bored in the gym! But what I have noticed is that a lot of people spend a lot of time chatting with PT in between sets. This causes the client to lose focus. I always kept my clients focused by doing stretching, mobility or super setting between sets or, if required, adjusting techniques.

My PT is very chatty! I do think it distracts me. But I really like her.

I think its difficult for PTs nowadays. I was employed by the gym and got paid regardless of whether or not the client liked me. But PTs now are usually self employed and will tailor the session to suit the clients personality as opposed to their fitness goals so that the client will keep coning back.

I think you’re spot on Anne. I will have to tell her that I don’t need 2 minutes between each set. It feels very long and I’m going to ask for 90seconds instead.

To me, 2 minutes is quite long unless you are trying to build serious muscle or going for personal best which the average gym user isn't doing. A shorter time will help keep you focused, stay in the zone, and keep the heart rate elevated. Plus you will finish your workout quicker and maybe have time for a lovely long stretch at the end.

Good point. Will definitely suggest shortening rest.
