I'm feeling pretty good! losing weight sure isn't as easy as when I was 30! lol! I feel like I have been really restrictive on calories. I have gone over a couple of days, but barely. I didn't understand until this week that I was also supposed to watch the fat, carbs, and protein. I saw the breakdown was like 20, 30, 50 or something. That was very discouraging. lol! And probably why I haven't lost as much as I wanted to. but I will keep doing my best!

6 pounds, though! Nice work! Also, very often and the payoff is how you feel rather than what your scale shows: I hope you’re feeling energized.

IMO after listening to several nutritionists or health coaches, protein should be 1g per body goal weight at minimum.

Thank you TJV! 😊 This is the first time I have ever had a problem with my weight, and it is extremely hard mentally. I am very petite, at only 5 feet tall, and have never weighed more than 120 pounds, max. I do not look my age, at all, but I believe 45 has finally caught up to me in my metabolism. I'm hoping when I weigh on Sunday I at least have a pound off from last week. It's starting to get warmer here, so I will be able to get outside soon and do some walking! I'm trying to keep my head up, because any loss is a success, but I remember when I was younger I would have already dropped 15 pounds in a month!

When I first lost the weight, I did it, not watching macros. I did cut back on starchy carbs, but only because they are higher calorie. You can lose without watching macros. I started paying more attention to macros after I was at goal & in maintenance. I started a workout program & I'm more focused on getting enough protein.

I'll echo SherryeB -- macros are one strategy, but not the only one. There's no magic formula. For me, it was plant-based, mostly whole foods and calorie tracking. I keep quoting Layne Norton on this one -- all successful weight loss and maintenance involves restriction, but you need to find the strategy that feels least restrictive to you. Adherence to a diet matters more than what diet you pick, so find something you can stick to permanently. Good luck!
