59Carol's Journal, 09 Mar 24

I gained 2.6 this week. Looking at my records for the week I could have expected a 0.5 to 1.0 pound gain. I am taken aback by the size of the gain. I ran about 35 calories too much per day. The error is likely in how I recorded my calories although looking over the week the areas where I ate extra was around plain yogurt, dates, toast and honey. Other than dates not super dense calorie choices. I was in town one day and on that day I didn't go to town until after lunch and ate supper at home! It does feel like I have been ripped off!

This upcoming week is going to be problematic on the weight front. Tonight I am hosting a Euchre party for my family. This is in commemoration of my husband and his dad - both gone and both with March birthdays. Euchre is something they both loved. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I am traveling with my son to a conference to a town I haven't visited in 30 years. I truly have no idea what is for restaurants and whether the conference is hosting all some or most meals. Then next weekend we are having a huge garage sale for both days. Eating may not go well next week. I will be vigilant and aware of my choices. Not sure what else I can do!

Last week I took my first dance lesson ever! I am learning jive. It was fun although I was the only totally newbie there. Everyone else had taken lessons before- some as many as 6 times! Apparently I need to work on how to spin on one foot using only my shoulder for momentum. I hired a band yesterday! It is a band of people I have known for many years. They will play at Summershine on July 6 which is a weekend party, roast pig and games competition in honour of my 65th birthday!

I'm betting that is not true weight gain, just fluid retention or some such. Fantastic on the dance classes; dancing is so much fun, wish I still could. Your birthday party sounds fantastic, happy 65th in advance! 🎂🎁
