Siegels's Journal, 01 Nov 23

wrapped up birthday weekend with overly indulgent family dinner last night. time to return to a healthy way of life and give back a few pounds of October fat. hopefully November and December can withstand the annual trend to put on weight over the winter. excuses are easy, but this is a time for rising to meet the challenges ahead, not allowing the daily stress to consume me.

I just keep counting calories. Regardless of vacations or holidays or birthdays or stress, I just make sure my calories are in check. When I know I'm going to be eating out or at a party, I ask what's being served in advance (or research the menu), and log my calories ahead of time. Then I balance my other meals around it. I have come too far to slide now! ❤️

I want to be Gigi if I ever grow up. We tend to indulge on special occasions and when I am mentally or physically exhausted. I wish I could just wrap my head around eating a boiled chicken breast tender and a piece of lettuce every day. I would lose weight and be better off physically but definitely not mentally. I have found that as I age more and more things are off the table so food becomes more important to me. I look forward to meals but not if they are too healthy. LOL.

Gigi. I do the same. What gets eaten gets logged and where it doesn’t fall into kcal or macros I adjust next meal or next days intakes accordingly. One non compliant meal or even a few days of excess isn’t going to radically impact long term results. Only when meal turns into days turns into weeks and then months of excess do the problems arise. For me it’s best to nip it in the bud.

I think it just all boils down to making the decision to meet our goals. Every day, we decide to work towards a goal. Often, we let temporary goals (a nice meal) get in the way of our long term goals. I got to the point that I hated how I felt and looked more than I could ever love anything edible. No pizza, pasta (my personal nemesis: I love pasta!!!), cake, cookie, or cheeseburger looks better to me than those brand new size small clothes in my closet. I wish everyone the most spectacular success in meeting your goals!!! ❤️ I

I think if everyone reviews their food log from last year's holiday season they will see that they ate a lot of junky calories for days and days on end. Just leave all the party food in other people's kitchens instead of your own. Thin and fit people make it through the same holidays.
