Bionici's Journal, 25 Oct 23

A wonderful day on the golf course yesterday. The weather was slightly overcast, but beautiful. Shot a 76 with 3 birdies and an eagle. Unfortunately, I also had a triple bogie and a double bogie which wiped out the birdies and eagle. All that aside, it was a really good round and shot my age. Thankfully, my weight is holding below 205, and hoping it will be below 200 within a few days. Thanksgiving is a month away !! I'll be hitting the recumbent bike this morning and putting in about 21 - 22 miles. Gotta keep that hurt pumping and all of the other systems in shape. Everyone keep focusing, keep exercising, and keep losing / maintaining your weight. God is good !!

I'm so glad that you had a wonderful day golfing. my Papa used to love to go golfing it was his favorite things to do. To you and all those you love please remember to put sunscreen your ears. I know I sound crazy but Papa was a religious sunscreen user but guess what he forgot his ears he had two small spots of skin cancer. We were so very lucky that they were noticed quickly and taken care of successfully. But it could have went badly; he didn't avoid sunscreen he just forgot a small area. But apparently ears are very sensitive. 🤷 Papa was such a wonderful and special person I miss him.

Leah_guffey, thank you. I've been golfing for about 62 years since I was 13 or 14, and still shoot a decent round of golf. I love the game, and always wanted to be a professional golfer. But life and work got in the way. :) I also put the sun screen on my arms, legs, and ears,....or at least now I do. Unfortunately, from my earliest memories on the beach, playing golf, and in Vietnam, sunscreen was not used. I wanted that tan. I go to the dermatologist a couple of times a year to have cancerous cells and pre-cancer taken off my head and arms. Last year, I had a basal cell growth removed from my neck that was about an inch long and about 1/4-1/2 inch deep. It was a big chunk. My arms have had all of the topical treatments, and I still have liquid nitrogen sprayed on spots 1-2 times a year. The ears got really crusty about 15 years ago, and a cream form of chemo was used on them for a month. I had nice "baby butt" smooth skin on the ears after that. My father was the same way, though less so. Having previously lived in Florida for 8 years in the 1990s, I wonder why so many people down there lay out in the sun so much resulting in very wrinkley, crusty type skin.
