JamaicaBoundNL's Journal, 06 Sep 23

I was visiting with my mother over the weekend so calories consumed in your childhood home don’t count, even if I did gain a pound. 🙂

Things are starting to move on the medical end of my life. An EMG on my left arm shows that nerve damage is the result of a neck injury and not MS and that regeneration is ongoing. The drug that is being recommended is finally getting approved for funding so that I don’t have to pay more that my gross salary for 12 tablets. And I have an ENT specialist appointment next month to see what I can do about my sinuses.

Happy Wednesday my friends. 💜

Well, avoiding the MS diagnosis must be good news. Wishing you well!

Well. About that. I was diagnosed in 2004 after a misdiagnosis of a cancerous brain tumour. But that being said, I am very relieved it’s not related to MS. The nerves are healing which most likely would not be the case otherwise. So, it’s still really good news. 😊 Side note - studies have shown that exercise has actually regenerated myelin which aids nerve function and in turn, muscle function. I had it happen last year. And it was a wonderful feeling.

So glad you're healing. I'm rebuilding from a brain injury, TBI. Slowly, slowly, but steadily better.

I have membership to that club, too. TBI and nerve damage on my right side from 2 car accidents. I can vouch for exercise as helpful, specifically ballroom dancing, because it focuses on posture and brain works hard to coordinate steps and music. With all support, I've had an amazing recovery. Now to shed the kilos to keep the chronic pain under control!

My trainer and therapist both have me undertaking multiple movements that require muscle and brain cooperation. It’s usually a situation in which I try it, completely mess it up, then figure I out. Sort of. 🫤 It’s so good to hear that you are healing, no matter how slowly. I’d love to try the dancing therapy but my right leg pretty much has a mind of its own now and it’s sullen and uncooperative. But, I’m working on it. Hopefully I’ll get the new meds soon which will might undo the damage of the generic drug and no drugs. Fingers crossed. 😊
