Hey everyone... Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I had some medical issues going on for the past few months and that was my focus. I had been to the ER several times and different doctors Including a Neurologist. They did CT Scans, an MRI, an EEG, and a ton of blood work trying to figure it all out. I was getting these electric shocks to my head and they would shoot down my spine to my arms and legs. It would feel like I was being electrocuted and in my head it felt like I was falling at the same time. I joined a group called Insomnia Sleep Disorders and the administrater there who's name is Lisa, helped me so much, she's great. It's crazy cause the doctors couldn't figure it out but together with Lisa's help I got it taken care of. I had been on an antidepressant named Mirtazapine for several years and a few months ago I just stopped taking it because it was causing me so much daytime fatigue I couldn't take it anymore. I could barely finish work let alone go to the gym afterwards. Do I stopped the medication. Come to find out I was suffering from something called Antidepressant Withdrawal Syndrome. It is caused by stopping an antidepressant, usually cold turkey, but it can occur regardless of a taper or not. I had a rare case of Prolonged Acute Antidepressant Withdrawal Syndrome where the symptoms didn't go away like they usually do within a week or two. My symptoms lasted months and I had no clue what was going on. Finally after months of research about neurological conditions I found the right information!! Now I'm back on a low dose of the medication with a very slow taper cycle. I am symptom free after months of suffering!! I am so thankful, but also worried that the symptoms will continue after I'm completely off the Mirtazapine. So for anyone out there taking this medication or thinking about taking it, please be aware of the side effects that come with ANY antidepressant. I didn't know about them and look what happened to me. Now I can get my life back to normal and the relief of knowing that I don't have something like MS or ALS is beyond words. For those of you that stayed to read my entire post, thanks for your support. Let's stay healthy and happy...and get back to living!!

I'm so glad to learn you've found the root cause of your medical issue. It must feel like you've been given a new lease on life!

It absolutely has!! I literally thought at one time that I had a brain tumor or something very serious going on....To think it was from an antidepressant...These pharmaceutical companies should have to pay for the things they do to people! These companies make billions of dollars pushing these medications without any second thought about the long term effects it can have on people's bodies. I'm really considering filing a lawsuit against the makers of this medication. The doctor told me he doesn't know if I'll ever be right again because of it.
