59Carol's Journal, 04 Feb 23

This time I am baffled. I gained 1.2 pounds. I am below my calorie window on average this week. I have been up in down on my daily weight from a loss of 1.4 to a gain of 1.2 (today!)

There are two possibilities that I can think of. Maybe I am consistently underestimating something - perhaps the oil spray?? The second is that I fell on the ice yesterday and my knee is a bit 'spongy' feeling. Maybe some water in the tissues? Not sure.

This week has been lots around getting services for my father-in-law as he begins to decline but is determined to remain in his home. He is devastated by the loss of his license. That is the next thing I need to tackle this coming week - how he can go shopping on a daily basis if he wants to. He is concerned about getting a ride back home from the store and needing a way to summon a driver. He doesn't have a cell phone. Truthfully, I feeling somewhat exhausted by trying to address all the needs and meanwhile having to 'yell' at him because of his poor hearing to let him know what is happening. Hard to communicate.

Sometimes there is no real explanation for a slight weight gain. Just keep going and you will reach your goal! Don't let yourself get discouraged.👍👍

Unexplainable weight gains happen to me all the time, there can be so many reasons. If you're eating right, it's temporary (but aggravating). Slipping on the ice can be so dangerous! Be sure to carry your phone with you when you go out, in case you need to call for help. Stay safe!!

I am going to be vigilant on the spray oil front. I may be using a too liberal hand with the spray! Other than that I am stumped!

Shirfleur - you are so right. I did have my phone with me. It was the first thing I thought of when I was sprawled on the ground that at least I had that. Then I managed to get myself upright and into the house! Yoga has helped me in loosening my top thigh muscle (whatever it is called!) which made the strain less than when I fell on the ice 3 years ago! All about the little improvements, eh?
