Its quite a relief to see the scale once again moving in the right direction.

I think it was the first Monday of October....I was in Zumba class, and we were jumping from foot to foot, kicking the free one out. I came down on my left foot, and my ankle gave out/rolled outward. (Sidenote - I've had a really bad injury to my left ankle years ago, and ever since then it tends to sporadically give out. I can be on stairs, walking over a flat surface, doesn't matter. I'll suddenly stumble for no apparent reason). Thankfully it was the song right before the cool down. I managed to make it through the end of class, hobbled out to my car and cried like a baby all the way home. The outside of my ankle (you know, where the bone sticks out?) swelled to the size of a golf ball, and I went to work in one shoe, on crutches for a week.

Fast forward to this past Wednesday, when I had my follow-up appointment with the orthopedist....It turns out I have a slight tear in my peroneal tendon which won't require surgery (thank God, because I don't have the time for that right now) and a potential bone bruise. If you're interested, this site was really helpful for me in understanding what the deal was. Doc says I should be back to my normal routine in the next few weeks, and he gave me a sheet of exercises to start rebuilding strength in that area.

My plan is to hit the gym after work and use the bicycle to get back into the swing of things. Once I'm comfortable with that, I'm going to try the elliptical and see how it feels.

Got a crazy week or two coming up. The Monday before Thanksgiving I'm flying down to Florida to spend time with family (some of whom I haven't seen in over two years). I'll be flying home ON Thanksgiving, and my parents will be driving out to spend the holiday (for the first time ever) at my place. I moved out here three or four years ago now and they have yet to come visit, so I'm super excited. The planning is interesting, as my whole nuclear family has been on a diet for a few years now, and I know mom hasn't done Thanksgiving the last couple years as she's had to be at work Black Friday at a ridiculously early time (3AM last year). I told her I'd bought biscuits (a single can as there'll be four of us, a can makes 8), and she said she's bringing another one because one won't be enough....however I don't think she's realized that they (her and my dad) don't eat as much as they used to.

Happy Sunday!
