Sweltering-style summer walk this AM...3.1 miles and all of it but .8 done without my doggies. It was just too oppressive for them. My timing reflected the heat and humidity as I was walking at a 3.13 mph rate.

Oh Sandy, here it is raining, gray, and cold. The temps are low for this time of year...hope that it starts to warm up soon, but the 10 day forecast isn't looking too promising. Have a great day!

Thanks Stef. I could send you some of this heat and/or humidity if you'd like...:) Maybe a trade for some actual rain, as we need some? It was just over 80 degrees at 9AM and very much wet-blanket-ish (meteorology term, dontcha know) even with a stiff wind. A front should drop us into the 70's for the next few days with less humidity, but we may see some storms before that front can get through. Enjoy the day, even though it's gray.

haha Stef, we are at 82 right now. Tell ya what. I'll go stand outside and start blowing it your way. Hold on.

Sandy - Can't believe it is that hot that early in the morning. Or, maybe, your dogs are just wimps. In either case, congratulations on you making the distance.

Well from my point of view, jaded as it is lately, at least you are walking! It is rainy & crappy here - oh, I think a little sunshine would really brighten me up! Glad your computer is all fixed up - missed you!

Buffy, I was surprised it was that hot so early too. I mean, that's pretty typical for summer but this is supposed to be spring. I laughed at the wimpy dogs comment. They ARE pretty pampered. My Collie guy handles heat amazingly well, but my Lab girl had a "medium" heart murmur so I need to be careful exercising her in the heat. Both would probably have gone the entire distance with me, but I'd feel like I was abusing them. So, I guess I'm the one who's wimpy - LOL!

GG-Girl...any idea when you'll be back to all exercise options? I'm with you - I'd certainly rather do exercise at or near home than going somewhere to do it. I hate lugging all the stuff to shower afterwards and, with the heat here, I wouldn't feel that I could do any other errands afterward if I didn't shower. But you must be doing something right even with restrictions....you've already hit the 160's!

Great job on the walking even though it was horribly hot out. Hope you drank tons of water. Can't have you dehydrated. Hope the rest of your day was a wonderful one.:)

Hey Sandy - Doc says two weeks off at least - and then it's going to be depending on how I feel, but swimming would be OK since there is no impact there. Only two pools in town, so I have to check into them yet for schedules & fees etc. Somebody else suggested yoga or pilates. This time of year I always look forward to getting outside - not inside! My dog (yellow female lab) is really disgusted with me I think! She knows that when I put my running shoes on it's fun time for her - so when ever she hears me putting them on (how she does hear or how she knows - I'll never know but it is amazing) - she comes a running. The last few days I have been forced to wear them to work (only shoes I can wear at this point); it is soooo hard to look at her & say I can't go! She never gives up - follows me all over & stays with me till I leave for work!

Hi Sandy, I know it can be hard on the little dogs. I took my Rottwieler on a walk one summer day and she found a mud puddle and just flopped down in it. I never took her for a walk on a hot day again. I got her a kiddie pool and she loved it. Loved that dog. Have a good evening..Bren

Bren...that mud puddle escapade sounds like Evie1010 and her Daisy recently! Both my dogs make a beeline for the pool when it's hot...or even sorta warmish. My Lab goes right to the back door to get to the pool, dragging her leash, even before I get a chance to take it off her. My Collie just hops right in the wading area and plops down, always careful to hoist his tail upward so it doesn't get wet!

GG-Girl...I think dogs' hearing is positively amazing. My Lab hears the cheese wrapper from the other end of the house! My Collie hears the "nemesis" dog being walked, before the dog gets within 2 houses of ours, so my guy can run to the window and bark at him the whole time he's in sight. How DO they do that??!!

Hahaha, the dogs are so smart and picky as humans in some things..They know what they want and you can just see the cogs a going as their thinking. I love the way they can commuicate with us...Have a great evening.........Bren
