Diea's Journal, 21 Mar 14

No loss this week. :(

But no gain. :)

I'm happy I'm still very close to the green and to the 140's.

And I'm still trying to learn patience and self-compassion. I automatically want to torture myself for not having lost at least. 0.1 pounds this week. I want to feel ashamed and just straight bad. I stop myself and breathe slowly. I tell myself, "It's okay, Diea. This is a long process. This is how you know this is a long-term change. It takes a while to get to it. You're making strides on the way. It's about the journey, not the goal."

This brings me relaxation.

Steady goes it!

I agree with Calyn! :) That's great that you didn't gain weight. It means you are controlling your weight. It's a life style. By making tiny adjustments, you will eventually get to a calorie deficit. Nothing to worry about! You are in control! :)

:) Thank you for the words of motivation. It helps me see this past week as a good week. It's difficult to stay positive when what I want is so close. It seems harder now than when I had 90 pounds to go. I really just want to practice patience. I know it's okay. I'm still on my way.

It is really harder but it's like fighting a stronger wind now, you just go slower and reach more for "grip" heheh :) And, if you feel like slowing down even more, no problem. The only thing that's important is not to let the wind take you or, not to start gaining weight (consistently, that is, because every day we either gain or lose a bit of weight but that's normal heheh). As long as you keep advancing weekly, little by little, you're a winner :) I definitely agree! Patience is critical because there is no sustainable fast way to do it, unless one has an iron will. By trying to be fast losing weight, one can, and probably will inadvertently sacrifice their motivation and compromise the stability of their desired "transformation". I prefer to call it a "transformation" than a "diet" because, what we really want, is to become different, not just to see how it is and then get back to how we were before. We're looking to make this permanent. To become our desired selves physically speaking. By being patient, you allow your body time to adapt to these difficult changes, and that is the key to being able to put old habits behind you. Like with plants, strong roots need time to grow ;) If you try to push these changes too fast on your body, it will not be able to cope and it will backfire even if you are able to contradict yourself in an abrupt, radical way, for a short time, you can only fight your will in such a way for so long. So you're definitely doing the right thing! It's really the case of "slow and steady wins the race" in this case :) Sorry for the speech. I got inspired lol :D

I love how you explain patience and weight loss in such an understandable. And please don't apologize for writing! It helps tons. It's true. I am planting seeds and making roots. That's such a good way to see this. I do want to adapt to these changes, and I'm thankful that you can help me see that. Patience in general is a difficult for me, personally speaking. It will win. It must. It has to so I can keep at this race against my cravings!
