that can't be all your eating!?! if so I think that's why. your body is in shock. I'm new to this but if I understand you correctly you need way more intake.

That's all I ate, mostly tomatoes and cucumbers. A lot of tea.

Your body will start to store your fat cells because your making your body think it’s starving.

So to lose weight, I need to eat more? That makes no sense 🤪 If the body stores fat for cases of emergency, at what point does it start using it?

... ordering large all-meat pizza (I wish).

You aren't gaining weight, you're definitely losing weight. Daily weight fluctuates constantly according to fluid intake/gut content (including that produced by your gut microbes, not just what you yourself are eating), etc. My weight can vary as much as 4lbs in a single day. Some people don't weigh daily for exactly that reason - the fluctuations look like a gain. That's why it's important to look at averages over a long period of time. Going markedly under caloric intake for extending periods of time spikes growth hormone (fact), which maybe possibly contributes to those weight fluctuations by redistributing how energy is stored in your body (supposition). Regardless of whether or not "starvation mode" is a thing, extended periods of time without food does obviously mean your body isn't getting the vitamins and nutrients it needs to be healthy, so no matter your goals, please do be careful and listen to your body as you carry on. =)

Thank you she_love. I am being careful and do not intend to do that for too long. Taking some vitamin supplements to compensate a bit.

This is why day to day changes in weight are basically meaningless. From June 16th to June 20th, you lost nearly 3lbs - of fat, muscle and water, exactly in which proportions, we don't know. The water you retain will be different every day. I'd suggest you compare the average of your daily weigh-ins from week to week for a clearer picture. No comment on your decision to take in so few calories as others have said enough.

Regarding the "eating more calories" to see progress: it's not that you lose more fat from a smaller deficit, but that you possibly (depends on your body's reaction to deficits of different sizes) retain a lot more water when the deficit is very large which doesn't give you the numbers you want on the scale. A more moderate deficit can get around this issue for some, to some extent, though most people deal with water retention and cortisol issues when they've been in a significant deficit for an extended period. In my case, a slight or moderate deficit always feels the least painful and frustrating.

Thank you for all this interesting information. I'll try to be less impatient.

Love all the great advice and support on this thread!

Just my advice, have you ever consider IF or even better the snake diet (alternative fasting for 24h, 48 or 72)? This works wonder if you combine it with Keto. I've lost 11lbs in 20 days easily. Try it out and good luck!

best way to lose weight is to change your habits, even if you start losing weight, you will gain it back once you eat normally again bc you don't have good habits.
