Diea's Journal, 01 Feb 14

This week I lost half a pound, and I'm so happy about it! I haven't been this weight in years. YEARS! This number also gives me hope that I really am back on the weight loss wagon and that I really can get to the 100 pound mark I dreamed of when I was at my worst. Can you imagine? I'm so in love with the idea of saying that I've lost 100 pounds, even if that journey took 5 years. My five year mark occurs at the end of the year; I began my weight loss journey January 2010. Oh, to have a healthy BMI and healthy body fat percentage. It has to be possible!!!

So, my office project spent the last two days at a retreat in the woods of Beverly Hills, specifically at a site called Tree People. It was an experience to cross Los Angeles geographically and with respect to its economic/class ladder. Where I live and work are nothing like the 90210 I saw in TV growing up. And it took two hours to get to the westside from the eastside of LA! Oh, SoCal traffic. Oh...

Anyhow, office retreat means little control over what I have to eat in front of me. There were snacks galore: muffins, cookies, kettle corn, chocolate, chips, etc. My inhibition was present but very weak. I was very good at only getting a healthy, balanced meal for lunch from what was offered both days, but I did get snacks a few times. I'm happy that I was able to portion control these acts of indulgence. I feel like I cheated my diet, but not too much. I still lost weight!!

And I'm so glad I do what I do, professionally at work and personally with this weight loss goal. Staying positive helps!

Congratulations Diea! :) That retreat sounds very interesting! I definitely agree that, the worst temptation is when we're out, hungry and are presented with junk foods! In those situations, it really takes a considerable effort to reject those foods. The more you look at them, the worse lol. I think the only solution to that is having homemade food with you at all times but that can be very difficult or impossible to do. So it was a great effort considering the challenge! Keep up the good work! :)

Thank you! Weight loss despite yummy kettle corn and dark chocolate required great effort. I could have just eaten hundreds of calories of all the junk food we had… two tables worth... but I chose not to. Seeing the numbers go down on this site and journaling consistently helps so much. I wish I could truly explain! I've been on here for such a long time and it was the journaling factor that helped me get back on the weight loss track. ;)

thank you for sharing. I can relate, i am also taking this journey very slow. it can be tiring and dishearting sometimes, but slow is the only smart way to go.

Weight loss with those things is so difficult for me that I can't even eat them heheh :). I see what you mean. I think that, were it not for those things, I would have likely given up a long time ago. having a log and log results sort of makes our progress more real, more palpable :)
