59Carol's Journal, 29 May 21

When all the dust cleared this week I lost 0.8 pounds. That really doesn't tell the story. First of all, let's be clear when I make a milestone as I did last week I find that the following week is difficult as the feeling of wanting to throw over the traces is huge! In fact, that happened on a certain level. There were two days where the eating was less controlled than usual. At one point I had gained 2.6 pounds and then was fighting a rear guard action just trying to get to neutral! In that context my 0.8 pound loss is nothing short of a miracle! From the highest weight this week until today I have lost 3.2 pounds this week!!

I hope I have that out of my system! I am finding some trepidation as I move into unknown weight territory however I am telling myself to trust the program and keep on inching along. All will be fine! (I reassure myself)

This week saw my granddaughter moving back home to attend in person classes. She very nearly caught up on all her homework. I spoke to her yesterday and more had been handed in. I am hopeful that she will be totally caught up as of Monday! What a battle - once in a deficit it is so hard to get back out of the hole she had dug herself into. I miss her company but it was time for her to go home. I know she was missing her family. She has applied for a summer job near me that she is to arrange an interview for so I will hopefully see her lots this summer!

I went to our nearby city with my daughter and granddaughter for medical appointments. While there I bought some lovely chairs for my deck. I am excited about setting up my outside space. I also bought a big mosquito killer so I am hoping it will make being outside more pleasant!

I have a fellow working on the outside of my rental property. He is doing all new sidewalks on the property and new siding. I hear that the sidewalks look amazing. I might see them later today depending on how this day plays out!

I had the same fellow's brother here doing a big mechanic job - lawnmower, Escape and truck. He got lots done on all of them. Looks like I need a new-old transmission to go into the truck and stabilizer bars in the Escape. He is getting me prices. Lawnmower is good to go!

I am meeting with a lady who does stucco tomorrow. I am hoping to get my house done. We'll see how the price works out!

Always lots happening!!

Well done on the drop, Carol, you're doing great! So much going on over there! I'm having breakfast on my balcony with the birds for company; the house finches are singing their hearts out and the sun is shining; a beautiful day after last night's storm. Have a lovely weekend! 💛

Ridemariel- I love Alabama! My father grew up by Bessemer and we used to go visit at Christmas time. It is the front porches I most remember with the chairs and swinging benches! I have an idea around my stairs that I am taking from my grandma's house

Shirfleur- that sounds so idyllic. I am setting up my porch today. Yesterday, I picked up the chairs that I bought last week and can hardly wait to set things in place! I have two porches to set up - one is on the north side and the other is on the south side. Depending on the weather one is always nicer than the other! The new furniture is going on the south side.

Shrewdness it took me a moment to realize what Memorial weekend is. In Canada, we celebrate Victoria Day which was tied to Queen Victoria's birthday. Now I think it is just the third weekend in May which was last weekend. But I intend to enjoy this weekend as the weather is beautiful.

We got the Monday before off so I guess it all evens out in the wash! I had a wonderful Sunday! I got so much done and it gave me lots of satisfaction. Unfortunately my stucco lady had vehicle problems on her way here so that is going to be another day!

EAMFIT- I am so very pleased. I hug that fact to me every once in awhile! Just goes to show what can be done if I persevere day by day one step in front of the other. Each small loss adds up over time!
