59Carol's Journal, 10 Apr 21

The great news for me this morning is that I dropped 2 pounds this week. I was angsting last week over a 1.4 pound gain that was on the heels of a 2.8 pound loss. I don't like the roller coaster of down a lot and then up a lot. It feels like I'm in a car oversteering on a muddy road - you just know disaster is around the corner!

This time I am not feeling like I am rebounding so much as course correcting. This week I lost quite a lot of weight fairly quickly - by Wednesday I was down 4 full pounds and then I steadily gained back to the 2 pound loss. That actually makes me hopeful that next week won't be a gain to 'even' out this week's loss.

I kept a careful eye on the little sneaky add-ons that I wasn't counting in my tracker. I also wasn't having as much pickle foods as I was enjoying a rye grain salad in place of the usual salad. Less salt....!

The picture is taken out my front door this morning. I woke up to a heavy snow fall with strong winds. I don't know if the picture quite captures the heavy snowfall and wind or not. I have been cleaning out my garage and getting ready for the season change that just changed back to winter this morning!

My dog ownership was short lived. I live on the side of a highway that is the only highway that leads to the Northwest Territories so there are lots of semi trucks and traffic in general. The speed limit is 100 km (60mph) however very few people drive that slowly. And the dog decided to go out and stop traffic in front of my house! I heard vehicles braking in front of my house and looked out and there he was with trucks going north and going south at full stops and him in the middle of the road looking quite pleased. So he is back at my daughter's house and I still have woodchucks to attend to!

Shrewdness it was funny and horrifying simultaneously! I bet those drivers were swearing blue streaks. Thank goodness no one ditched their vehicles.

Well done on the weight loss Carol, you're doing great. I love your snow picture, spring snow can come and go so quickly. My son in Alaska got caught in a blizzard last week. I'm glad your dog didn't cause an accident or get injured, but I can see why things didn't work out. I'm sorry the woodchucks are causing you problems, but at the same time, I have grave concerns for the wildlife all over our planet.

So glad dog is ok! I was reading with dread...I once hit a little pup (broke it's leg) and was a blubbering mess thinking I had killed it. Congrats on your loss! I hate the ups and downs, makes me crazy!!!

Shirfleur - I understand about wanting to preserve our wildlife. Unfortunately the woodchucks are causing quite a bit of damage at my place. I initially did nothing as I believe in live and let live however the damage that their large tunnels beside my foundation and porch is causing trouble. They are also proliferating so I have gone from 1 woodchuck to maybe 5 or 6 - it is hard to be sure on the exact number.

Rckc- I was terrified the dog would cause an awful accident. With big trucks that can't stop easily or quickly and the vehicles that don't see the vehicles in front of them are slowing down and so rear end the vehicles ahead.... and so on. The stretch in front of my home has seen a disproportionate number of accidents because it is a straight stretch just before/after a large curve in a dip. I didn't want to be a cause of an accident.
