Lisa Online's Journal, 27 Jan 11

My scale read battery lo so I changed my battery in hopes that my flucking fluctuations are not so extreme in the days to come. I also realize my R.D.I. has been fluctuating so this may be the way my body rocks and rolls at this period of my weight loss journey. I have noticed a spike after restaurant meals so there must be something to this eating out stuff. Reviewing my old Weight Watchers materials to see if I might discover anything that may shake things up a bit because I believe in rolling with the changes. TOWANDA!!!!

What's your dieting personality profile?

1) I need details and precision. I like the idea of being told when, what, and how much to eat. I prefer to follow a structured menu plan and believe following one is a big part of my weight-loss success. Having lot of choices is frustrating.

2) I like to have specific guidelines so that I kow how much it's "Supposed" to be done. Having said that, I don't always follow the guidelines i'm given. I use menu plans to get ideas, but usually do my own thing when it comes to meals.

3) Like the song says, "Don't fence me in." When it comes to losing weight, the mroe rules there are the more I'll break them. I need freedom and lots of choices. Menu plans just don't do it for me. I do much better eating what I want, when I want it.

It's quite possible that you have different dieting personality profiles at different times. For example, during the week you could be very diciplined and fit the Dedicated Profile, but on the week-end be more flexible and act more like an Adaptor. If your job doesn't allow you to follow a schedule and you eat out a lot, you might fit the Individualist Profile during the week, but be an Adaptor on the weekend when you have more control. Check out the Profiles. The bottom line is that all of the personality profiles can lead to weight loss. The key is to make your Profile work for you and have fun with the process of losing or maintaining your weight. ~ my old W.W. Materials.

You never stop searching for better, Lisa. I'm learning from you so much. For me, it's better to plan meals ahead and follow through but it's not always possible especially weekends. So I also need to be flexible. I want my kids see me not so obsessed for calories but make a balance choices and enjoy life at the same time. I don't count calories when I eat out but just watch out for portion size. Happy Thursday!

I like your focus on revamping your game-plan. But I am a bit confused. Some of what you said was contradictory - (1) "I like having specific guidlines...Having lots of choices is frustrating"....(3) "I need freedom and lots of choices." So, which is it? LOL

Evie I'm number a 2.... My strict guideline is to eat between 1,200 and 1,700 cal per day keeping it closer to 1,500. I weigh in because I am embracing flucking fluctuations. I recently incorporated a mini fast and don't eat solids except for vegetables and milk after 6:30pm because I want to avoid becoming a warewolf (wolf it down eater) in the evening. I exercise 5 to 7 days per week....I love all foods and eat what I want....I'm a loser, maintainer, I am cool with me. TOWANDA!!!!!!

As soon as I got to work today I knew my head was still in the fog. My boss asked me to get some files so I went into my office area and opened the refrigerator and stared for a moment realizing that it was the file cabinet I should have gone to..lol...TOWANDA!!!!!

Excellent journal Lisa and I like the three points on diet personality. Reminds me that I need to change the batteries in my scale soon it has been a year already. The RDI is interesting but find it a bit too high sometimes here in FS. What kind of scale you got?

Ideally I should keep between 1,200 and 1,300. I agree the R.D.I. on F.S. is high for a lot of us to lose weight with. I have a digital scale that reads half pounds and pounds only. I am hoping this battery change will help with the fluctuations..I also cleaned its feet which I hadn't noticed until I picked it up to look at the battery. Thank you for your friendship buddies . OH! I get it now! You were describing the three different styles of dieting - based on personality tendancies. I am WITH you! LOVE your werewolf analogy! LOL And you are so awesome - where did that loser word come from? You are a bundle of wonderfulness - you are so way beyond mediocrity and maintanence. You are making it work for you and you've got a good game plan going on. G'night Towands, girl! Love ya!

I think you should be at more like 1500 but thats just me and activity level accounts for added calories needed but if 1300 is working for you then keep going little buddy. My scale reads in decimals but rarely go by the body fat % it reads. Cleaning scales feet... So is this a scale bath time? LOL :)
