Caring about ourself! TOWANDA!!!

In the beginning, eating was meant to be one of life's sublime simple pleasures. But then Eve took a bite out of an apple (so much for the low calorie, low-fat, high-fiber theory) and woman have been at war with food ever since.

But food is not our enemy. If we're alive, we're supposed to love to eat. Food is the source of vital fuel our bodies convert to energy in order to survive. Not wanting to eat as in anorexia or illness-is a signal that something's seriously wrong with us. Don't fight your hunger. Instead, respect it and respond to it with nutritious food that appeals to all your senses - not just taste but sight and smell as well. But trusting our bodies to tell us what they need is scary for most. We're afraid that if we throw out all the diets and eat when we're hungry, we'll never stop and end up in the Guinness Book of World Records.

However the more we stare ourselves, the more weight we eventually gain, and then we end up giving up on ourselves because we view weight gain as failure. Anyone who has been on more then one diet in their life knows this painful truth. The only way to stop the heatbreaking cycle of self-loathing is to stop dieting and use our common sense. Eat when you are hungry, drink when you're thirsty, sleep when you are tired, get in harmony with your body through regular exercise, and nourish your soul through prayer and meditation. "Be really whole", the Chinese sage Lao-Tzu told his followers, "and all things will come to you." Even how to finally make peace with our weight. Taoism- the Eastern philosphy of Lao-Tzu -teaches that the only way to be made Whole is to yield to the fact that your body answers to Wisdom that's higher than wanting to look like the waif on the cover of Vogue.

Every person has a weight that's ideal for her as opposed to an ideal number. This is the weight at which you feel the most comfortable, have the most energy, can stay well and feel good about the way that you look. We begin to achieve this weight when we begin to trust our bodies. Above all, trust the guidance of your Authentic self by visualizing who she or he is. See the weight she carries. Ask her/him to help you acheive your perfect weight through the power of love. Today be willing to believe that self-love is the only weight loss aid you'll ever truly need, because it is the only one that works.

The message above written by Sarah Ben Breathnach...I have listened to this sage advice. My main tool is developing a relationship with my body by choosing to consiously love and honor the sacred garment (my gift from GOD) that has gifted to me for my life's journey. I see myself maintaining my ideal body, trusting my choices as I am guided through my day. I will reach my ideal weight and am at peace with my Authentic self because I cared enough to love her. TOWANDA!!!!

Good, soulful message there Lisa, and a funny video too! I saw this quote today and thought...yep, that's so true. It's not that some people have willpower and some don't. It's that some people are ready to change and others are not. Have a great Thursday!
