moufette123's Journal, 28 Nov 20

Gained a little this time. I did not skip any breakfast this week and I even ate some takeout yesterday (chicken wings with sour cream on the side). Bottom line, I think I ate a little more this week.

My blood pressure is still great these days and I hope it stays that way!

What has been worrying me lately is some spotting that I wish to explain away as my uterus transitioning and adjusting. Before my latest period started, I had some very light spotting that lasted a couple of days, then stopped. Then I had my period that lasted about 6-7 days. Then a couple of days later, the surprise spotting came back. I still have it now, it has been 2 days.

I got my MRI follow-up call from the radiologist who performed my uterine fibroid embolization. She told me that my fibroids seemed to have responded well to the procedure and I told her that the heavy bleeding is gone and that things are going well. My body decided to play tricks on me many hours after that call... I hope I did not jinx it or anything like that. I also do not wish to see a gynecologist for the spotting. According to a quick Google search, menstrual spotting can be caused by so many things! I guess I will simply wait and see and contact a doctor if I get heaving bleeding again. The only permanent remedies against fibroids are either a hysterectomy or menopause and I need to keep this in mind.

Weather-wise, after our snow fall, it is going to be pretty much overcast with rising temperatures, probably with rain mixed in. This is really depressing. I would have preferred colder temperatures if it meant more sunshine, but it does not work that way! At least I did not have too much shovelling to do! I have to get ready soon to hit the road because I need to drive my mom to an appointment and it is 2 hours away!

Hope you have a good drive and things go well. I guess wait and see on the bleeding is good. Hope it will be better. Pretty nice here as it is milder and ever a tiny bit of melting. I will have to go out to take advantage of it since it is likely to get super cold where I am.

I had a myomectomy when I was 46. I had a fibroid as big as an orange removed and one the size of an egg that was sitting on my bladder. They didn't grow back and I've had no new ones but I'm post menopausal and fibroid will shrink or can go away with lower estrogen levels. The only thing I'm unhappy about is the scar. It looks like I had a C-section and because I was overweight when I had the surgery My fat drops over the incision. I don't think that will go away entirely when I reach my weight goal, but we'll see. The surgery is something to consider if you continue having problems. Initially I had a male doctor tell me hysterectomy was my best option too but I was changing doctors anyhow and my new female doctor told me about Myomectomy. She said women tend to do better when they keep their ovaries, but they used to automatically remove them because at a certain age the risk for ovarian cancer goes up and there's no way to know if you are at a higher risk for it or not. Anyway, all good food for thought. Good luck to you! I hope you're spotting goes away soon!

Wow, you've really been through it! I have not heard of embolization before. I'm glad to hear it's helping and that the spotting has stopped. Hopefully you will stop having fibroids! I can't believe how big and troublesome they can be! Our estrogen working overtime I guess?
