Bought a food scale, finally. Time to start weighing the portions, (and likely be shocked by how small the portions I'm eating SHOULD be 😅). Here we go.

A food scale is a great idea GourmetPoison's. I was shocked when I weighed peanut butter and saw what a tablespoon of p.b. actually looks like on your knife. I put a slice of bread on the scale and then add the nut butter, aiming for 10 grams. I also weigh sweet potato, potato, nuts and meat. A scale is also useful for measuring portions of meat and fish for freezing.

Thanks, Trillium1. Meat is the big one for me. Guessing at how big a chicken breast is obviously wasn't working. What I consider medium and someone else considers medium varies greatly. 😂

I aim for 100 grams of chicken breast which has tons of protein and not too much fat. 10 grams of nuts is high in calories and is such a tiny amount. My starting weight two years ago was about 220 pounds but by walking every day, tracking my food (weighing often) and daily weigh-ins I've managed to creep down to 143 pounds. I eat three meals a day and Greek yogurt and fruit while watching tv. Lately I've stalled but at least I'm not going up again. Enjoy your new scale. By the way, if it dies or starts weighing oddly, it might just need a new battery.

I too bought one recently, turns out I've been eating for 3 people a long time

Pretty much the same here, Kevinsitek. Far too much meats and carbs for one person.

I think you also will know better what choices to make to give you more food for less calories.
