59Carol's Journal, 08 Aug 20

This week I lost 0.6 pounds. This is way more exciting than it first appears. I entered the 190s on Nov 30 of last year. Ever since I have been between 195 and 200 pounds going up and down and staying the same. Until last week I hadn't dipped down below 194 pounds. So at just a shade under 193 it is darn exciting. Not only is my line now green, it feels like I am finally gathering up some momentum.

Last week I referenced a book I was reading that is essentially a study of a massive number of weight loss studies that have been done world wide on weight loss. I have found it fascinating. I am slowly adding in the tweaks that those studies suggest. I feel that is why I have finally broken through this extremely long plateau. And I haven't put all of the information into action yet! I am slowly incorporating the habits that it is suggesting. If anyone is interested it is called "How Not To Diet". It is a lengthy tome - 20 hours of an audio tape. I have ordered the book and look forwards to referencing it over time. If you choose the audiotape be warned that the narrator (the author) is a bit hard to listen to in that he is definitely not a professional reader!

This week - what else has been going on? I now have weeping tile in the last quarter of my basement. The guys did an excellent job and while the concrete was open they did a number of fixes on my plumbing including plumbing in for a shower toilet and sink as well as making my sump better tied into the system. It is exciting. I got new eavestroughing installed. Coming up soon will be painting my barn - the painter met with me on Thursday so I am moving that project along.

Now I need to get a bunch of stuff organized in my basement with much of it coming up the stairs to go to the garage. Might be a bit slowed down because I stepped on a rusty nail yesterday so my foot is a bit sore. I went to the hospital, got my shots and got it cleaned out- so no worries there.

Here is a non scale victory - I have an filing cabinet that is lined in concrete to be fire proof. Built in the 1960s and miserable heavy (likely more than 500 pounds). The two fellows were trying to get this thing up the stairs. One on top with the dolly (very muscular man) and one pushing and guiding on the bottom (not nearly as muscular but wiry). They could not budge it. They said they needed one more guy to get this up the stairs. I offered to see if I could help. I made the difference! We got the thing all the way up and out the door!!! Yea me and my muscle power.

Carol, you are amazing! Congrats on the weight losses moving into green! 🌟🌟🌟 And thanks for the info on the book, I'm definitely going to pick it up. Another project on the house; let me know when that bathroom in the basement is completed, I'm ready to drop in for a visit! 😁 Also, helping to move a heavy safe up the stairs! Wow!💛

Thank you Shirfleur - I would love a visit especially when I have bedrooms for company! Right now I have turned my house into a one bedroom by converting the upstairs bedrooms into a study and laundry room. I am so hoping I can pull off basement bedrooms by Christmas as sleeping the family will be so much easier. Regarding the book - I listened to an audiotape from the library before I decided to purchase it. It is way cheaper on kindle however I am a paper girl so I am getting a paper copy!
