With more enthusiasm then thought, I was intending to join a group in fasting today, but wasn't feeling it this morning. In part to try to satisfy a question thats been on my mind ever since I read the Dr Fung book. If you're body is fat adapted & you're eating low carb but you are eating high fat...and you're body wants to burn fat, wouldn't you get better weight loss gains if you're body has to burn the fat from what's already in your body, vs added fats? I'm approaching this train of thought with the thought process of a caveman maybe. ie- fat is fat. Eliminate fat! I have done some reading, I'm not moving to a fat is bad mentality. But I am thinking of for a period of time, moving to a keto carnivore diet. I say diet because I don't believe from a nutrient standpoint that carnivore eating is sustainable long term. By that I mean the purist carnivore notion of meat & water only. I like my meat, but I like my dairy too. And I do enjoy my heavy cream in coffee, eggs, cheese, occasional keto smoothie. I've never been a big veggie fan so that part is easy. I've done a pure carnivore diet before & while it worked, I know from satisfaction level its not sustainable for me. But a keto-carnivore hybrid has appeal to me.

I think the spirit of a keto carnivore journey is here for me, but in many ways its a much different journey for me because a) of course I'm not the athlete he is b) I'm not going to be ingesting protein to the level that athletes do. I can't afford protein powder & I'm not going to be an "eat as much meat as you want as often as you want" kind of person. I like the OMAD or 2MAD eating pattern and I'm not going to have a disciplined burning thousands of calories in the gym at mentality or lifestyle at 59 yrs of age! So, I'll make it work for me. basically sliding the scale over from say 100-110g of fat and 20-40g of protein per day, to like 50-60g of fat, 30-50g of protein. At 223 lb, I know at a final goal 190-200lb, I have a fight ahead of me to get there. I welcome any links to good articles on the subject of keto carnivore.
