stuck at 234.2. Can't believe stuck again already. A test of will power & perseverance, if nothing else. Commits me even more to the idea of fasting again starting in about 1 week. Speaking of being stuck, I've been some reading on this notion of "carb confusion". the idea being you vary your carb intake frequently (I assume staying under a max number.) One article I've read suggested for example..one day 10g, next day 20, next day 10 again. I call bs as I've done with no result. Now what about if you jumped 10 to 75-100 and back? Tried that too. I gained 2 lb after a 90g night then took 3 lb to get back down (and yes I stayed in keto). All its proof to me of is that everyone is different!

Tried my low carb creamy crab (or shrimp in my case salad) as my meal today. A decent companion to a main or as a dip, but not as a meal. Just too much cheese, mayo & sour cream. I am having steak tomorrow with that on the side. Plus I find an iceberg lettuce salad to be as or more satisfying (I like the crunch), cheaper and faster to prepare. Ah well. 4 out of keto recipes have been a success. Not bad for a guy who hates to cook. Lol.

One of my most difficult challenges starts tomorrow. First week of unemployment in almost 3 years. I bought my daughter some used Adirondack (Muskoka in Canada?) wood chairs and I'm excited to get together with them to refinish them. Hopefully this week. Then week after, back to fasting. Meanwhile carefully & selectively applying for jobs. I've applied for a few that I thought I had a good chance at. Surprisingly no response. On the other hand, my broadcasting career is 1 of 3 positions on there and its obvious by my tenure, I'm a mature worker. But I'm not going to hide it. And its the most impressive part of my employment history. Its a bit of a test of a potential employer too. If they don't see value in that or are willing at least to ignore my obvious age as a factor, I don't want to work for them anyway!

Just stick with balancing your macros and stay in a deficit, and of course any exercise you can do for 30-60 minutes a day. I've seen all these diets out there, and really nothing is better than exercise and metering what you eat. Fasting works quick, but it's so easy to binge again after and it's hard to work out during a fast sometimes, but to each their own of course. As for the job situation I have some background in hiring. Your age shouldn't really make a difference unless the recruiter is much younger than you. Experience counts for everything and frankly I hire many older people due to their work ethic. These days the way things are done it's not surprising for you not to get a response from applications, resumes come in electronically and unless one stands out right away it's dismissed. Also a cover letter is still very important for any job, they always catch my eye first.

Forgot to mention what is obvious but I totally missed when I plateaued the first time. As the weight goes down, the calories need to as well. Or the exercise needs to come up. I was cutting at 2100, now I try to stay around 1800 until I get to where I want to be. Then they'll come back up a bit for lean bulking. I also eat a lot of carbs to fuel the exercise.

Thanks for the tips. I always do a cover letter custom to the position that includes directly addressing what they are specifically looking for. I appreciate the experience, reliability aspect of a mature worker but I know that some hr folk assume that for example age means expensive:) I also think it was easier when a face to face presentation of a resume' was better. I present well in person. It's getting the face to face I find the challenge in the world of electronic resume' submission. It's also a bad time right now because it can be hard to tell if a lot of places are hiring at the moment or seeing whats out there when they get up and running again:) Regarding the calorie intake..I've run on a calorie deficit for at least 2 months now. A deficit that continues to be lower than what I should need at even 30lb lighter. But I'm realistic. If this was easy, everyone would do it and we'd have no pple struggling with weight in the world! It just annoys me. Lol.

Look at your line, it's at such a sharp decline, that's amazing! I always have to think this is long term, it prevents me from getting stuck at plateau's or losing motivation. This is probably how I'll have to eat now for the rest of my life, so progress not perfection! I'm also a mature folk! My body is slower to metabolize, it's just a part of aging. I think the biggest high has been fitting in standard sizes again, it just makes shopping so easy.

I know you can do it! Just being on here and thinking thinner is so positive for the mind to help the body do what it needs to do; be healthy !! Keep at it
